Province of Perugia
The Province of Perugia (Italian: Provincia di Perugia) is the larger of the two provinces in the Umbria region of Italy, comprising two-thirds of both the area and population of the region. Its capital is the city of Perugia. The province covered all of Umbria until 1927, when the province of Terni was carved out of its southern third. Cippus Perusinus
The Cippus Perusinus is a stone tablet discovered on the hill of San Marco, near Perugia, Italy, in 1822. The tablet bears 46 lines of incised Etruscan text. The cippus is assumed to be a text dedicating a legal contract between the Etruscan families of Velthina (from Perugia) and Afuna, regarding the sharing or use of a property upon which there was a tomb belonging to the noble Velthinas. The date of the inscription is considered to be 3rd or 2nd century BCE.
Fontana Maggiore
The Fontana Maggiore is a monumental medieval fountain located between the cathedral and the Palazzo dei Priori in the city of Perugia in Italy. It was made between 1277 and 1278 by sculptors Nicola Pisano and Giovanni Pisano. The hydraulics were by Fathers Bevignate and Boninsegna. The fountain was part of program of civic improvements begun in 1278 to celebrate the autonomy of the free commune of Perugia.
Perugia railway station
Perugia railway station, also known as Perugia Fontivegge railway station (Italian: Stazione di Perugia; Stazione di Perugia Fontivegge) is the main station serving the city and comune of Perugia, in the region of Umbria, central Italy. Opened in 1866, it forms part of the Foligno–Terontola railway, which also links Florence with Rome. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni.
Castello di Monterone (Monterone Castle)
Castello di Monterone, known also as Castello Piceller, is a castle situated on a hill, along the street that connects Perugia to Assisi, through Ponte San Giovanni. Very close to the Monastery of San Pietro and to the Church of San Bevignate, this street is one of the “royal roads”, that means, streets leading out of the town through the main gates of the medieval time, along a road network already used by the Etruscans and Romans.
