Basilica of Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella is a church in Florence, Italy, situated just across from the main railway station which shares its name. Chronologically, it is the first great basilica in Florence, and is the city's principal Dominican church. The church, the adjoining cloister, and chapterhouse contain a store of art treasures and funerary monuments. Especially famous are frescoes by masters of Gothic and early Renaissance.

The members of the Company were called vanchetoni, for their habit of walking quietly, and bacchetoni, in reference to the used baton for penitential self-scourging.

The owner of the building, the mathematician Vincenzo Viviani, had them applied on the main façade in 1693, in order to celebrate and glorify the life and many discoveries of his master, Galileo Galilei.

Last Supper (Ghirlandaio)
The Last Supper (1480) is a fresco by the Italian Renaissance artist Domenico Ghirlandaio. It depicts Jesus and the Apostles during the Last Supper, with Judas sitting separately on the near side of the table, as is common in depictions of the Last Supper in Christian art. Ghirlandaio was already famous and was about to travel to Rome to paint the Sistine Chapel with other Florentine painters when he received the commission for this fresco.

The Museo Nazionale Alinari della Fotografia (MNAF - National Museum Alinari of Photography), formerly Museo della Storia della Fotografia Fratelli Alinari is a photography museum located on the piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence. It hosts special exhibitions on a regular basis and possesses 350.000 vintage prints from the 19th and 20th centuries. Since 1 November 2006 it is located in the Ospedale di San Paolo, a former pilgrims' hostel that was later transformed into a school.
