Volpaia
The winery that produces the well-known Chianti Classico wine operates within the walls of the Castello di Volpaia, a fortified village of medieval origin. The first document in which the castle is clearly mentioned was written at Cintoia, a small village about 12 miles south of Florence, on April 21, 1172.
