Burggrafenamt
The Burggrafenamt is a district in the western part of the Italian province of South Tyrol. It comprises the part of the Adige river valley between Naturns and Bolzano, and its side valleys Passeier Valley and Ulten Valley.
Meran Tramway
The Meran Tramway was built to satisfy the urban transport requirement in the town of Meran, at that time an important town in the Austrian monarchy. There was already a tramway crossing the town, the Lana-Meran railway. The new tram line was to cross the town at right angles to the existing line.
Passer (river)
The Passer is a 42.6 km torrent in northern Italy, a left tributary of the Adige, whose entire course lies within South Tyrol. The stream rises near the Alpine pass between Italy and Austria known as the Timmelsjoch, and flows through the Passeier Valley where the most important settlement is St. Leonhard in Passeier. The river joins the Adige at Meran, where it is a significant site for competitive canoeing, beneath the Steinerner Steg.
Trauttmansdorff Castle
Trauttmansdorff Castle is a castle located south of the city of Meran, South Tyrol, northern Italy. It is home to a museum of tourism and since 2001 the surrounding grounds have been open as the Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens, a botanical garden. During the years of fascist Italy the castle was called di Nova Castle (Torrente Nova is the name of a little brook near Trauttmansdorff).
Steinerner Steg
The Steinerner Steg is a two-arched, stone-built footbridge across the Passer in Merano, South Tyrol, northern Italy. The oldest bridge in the town, it connects the historic centre and the Steinach district with the Obermais quarter. In 1615 the wooden aqueduct which spanned the river here had fallen into disrepair and the town decided to demolish it and build a stone bridge in its place. The following year Andrä Tanner, an architect from Brixen, was contracted to build the replacement.

Tirol Castle or Castle Tyrol is a castle in the comune (municipality) of Tirol near Meran, in the Burggrafenamt district of South Tyrol, Italy. It was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol and gave the whole Tyrol region its name.
Merano derailment
The Merano derailment occurred on 12 April 2010 when a train derailed between Latsch and Kastelbell, near Merano, Italy, after running into a landslide, causing nine deaths and injuring 28 people.
