Nehora
Nehora is a moshav (village) in the southern Israeli Coastal Plain about 5 km west Kiryat Gat in south-central Israel. It belongs to the Lakhish Regional Council. It is located just east of Route 352, across the road from Noga. Nehora was founded in 1955 as part of the program to inhabit Hevel Lakhish and was intended to serve as a center of services for surrounding communities. A shopping center, regional school and the offices of the Lakhish Regional Council are located there.
Hevel Lakhish
Hevel Lakhish is an area of south-central Israel. Part of the southern Shephelah, it is located between the Judean Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea and is named after the Biblical city of Lachish. Before the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, three kibbutzim were founded in the area - Gal On, Gat and Negba. Between 1955 and 1961 twenty more settlements were established. The area is covered by three regional councils - Lakhish, Shafir and Yoav - and one city council, Kiryat Gat.
Uza, Israel
Uza is a religious moshav in southern Israel. Located in Hevel Lakhish around two kilometres south of Kiryat Gat and covering 1,000 dunams, it falls under the jurisdiction of Shafir Regional Council. In 2006, it had a population of 463. The village was established in 1950. Biblical "name taken from passage "Summon the might, O God, show the strength, O God, thou who hast wrought for us" ."
Bayt 'Affa
Bayt 'Affa was a Palestinian Arab village in the District of Gaza. It was depopulated during the 1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine on January 10, 1948 as part of Operation Barak. It was located 29 km northeast of Gaza and Wadi al-Rana ran east of the village. The village had a census in 1596 which recorded 143 inhabitants in the village. In 1945 there were 700 people. The village had a khirba which contained the remains of walls made of ancient columns, uncut stones and a well.
Operation Death to the Invader
Operation Death to the Invader, also Death to the Invaders, was an Israeli military operation during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. It was carried out on July 16–18, 1948 in the northwestern Negev desert. The operation's objective was to link Jewish villages in the Negev desert with the rest of Israel, after this aim was not achieved in Operation An-Far that ended on July 15.

Operation GYS, or Operation Gayis, short for Golani, Yiftach, Sergei (Negev)—the three participating brigades—was an Israeli military and logistical operation conducted during the second truce of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. Its objective was to create a corridor to the Israeli enclave in the northern Negev desert, surrounded by the Egyptian army.
Operation Shmone
Operation Shmone was an Israeli military operation conducted against the Egyptian-held police fort of Iraq Suwaydan in the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. The battle was fought between the Israel Defense Forces and the Egyptian Army on November 9, 1948 and ended in an Israeli victory, following numerous previous Israeli attempts to capture the fort, two of them in Operation Yoav just weeks before.
