Ta'anakh
The Ta'anakh region, also known as Ta'anachim, is an area to the south of Israel's Jezreel Valley and east of the Wadi Ara region. The area is named after the biblical city, located just across the Green Line in the northwest West Bank. In the 1950s, the area was settled by immigrants from Morocco, Tunisia, Kurdistan, and Poland. Most or all of this region is located in the Gilboa Regional Council.
Muqeible
Muqeible or Muqeibla, meaning "The front place", is an Arab town in Israel's North District, situated in the Jezreel Valley between Jenin in the West Bank and the Ta'anakh area. It is a part of the Gilboa Regional Council. According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, Muqeible had a mixed population of approximately 3,000 Muslims and Christians at the end of 2005.
Merkaz Yael
Merkaz Yael is a communal settlement in the Ta'anakh region in northern Israel. It belongs to the Gilboa Regional Council. It was founded in 1960 as part of the program to inhabit the Ta'anakh region. It formed a regional center for the nearby communities Prazon, Avital, and Meitav. The name "Merkaz Yael" was inspired by Yael, the hero of the battle against Sisera in the Book of Judges and wife of Hever the Kenite, after whom another communal settlement nearby is namend.
Prazon
Prazon is a moshav in the Ta'anakh region in northern Israel. It belongs to the Gilboa Regional Council. It was founded in 1953 by immigrants to Israel from Kurdistan as the second settlement in the Ta'anakh region after Avital. The name "Prazon" ("rural population") is taken from a verse in chapter 5, verse 7 of the Book of Judges: "The rural population in Israel ceased, until I, Deborah, arose. " The story described in Judges took place in the surrounding region.
Magen Shaul
Magen Shaul is a moshav near Gilboa Mountain in northern Israel. It belongs to the Gilboa Regional Council. The moshav was founded in 1976 by children of families who lived in other moshavim of the Ta'anakh region. The name "Magen Shaul" is borrowed from the elegy that David proclaimed after Saul died in a battle against the Philistines in the surrounding area.
Muqeible Airfield
Muqeible Airfield is an abandoned military airfield located in the northern West Bank, approximately 1 km southwest of the village of Muqeible, Israel and 3 km north of Jenin. The airfield was built in the British Mandate of Palestine and was used as a military airfield by the Royal Air Force, being designated RAF Muqeible. It was also used by the United States Army Air Force during the World War II North African Campaign.
Jezreel (city)
Jezreel was an ancient Israelite city and fortress originally within the boundaries of the Tribe of Issachar, and later within the northern Kingdom of Israel. According to the Book of Kings, the royal palace of King Ahab in Jezreel was adjacent to the vineyard of Naboth. Prior to the division of the United Kingdom of Israel, the city was also the hometown of Ahinoam, first wife of King David.
