Kidron Valley

The Kidron Valley is the valley on the eastern side of The Old City of Jerusalem, separating the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives. It continues east through the Judean Desert, towards the Dead Sea, descending 4000 feet along its 20 mile course. The settlement Kedar, located on a ridge above the valley, is named after it. The neighborhood of Wadi Al-Joz bears the valley's Arabic name. The Bible calls the Valley "Valley of Jehoshaphat - Emek Yehoshafat.

Jerusalem Governorate

The Jerusalem Governorate is one of 16 Palestinian governorates and is situated in the central portion of the West Bank. Its claimed capital is East Jerusalem, which is, however, under Israeli occupation and regarded by Israel as being part of its territory. The total land area of the governorate is 331.6 km. Also, Adnan al-Husayni, who is the governor has been appointed by the government since 2008.

E1 (Jerusalem)

E1(short for East 1), also named Mevaseret Adumim is an area of the the West Bank within the municipal boundary of the Israeli settlement of Maale Adumim, located in immediately adjacent to East Jerusalem. It covers an area of 12 square kilometres, which although largely empty, is home to a number of Bedouin communities and their livestock as well as a large Israeli police headquarters.

Yeshivat Birkat Moshe

Yeshivat Birkat Moshe is a hesder yeshiva located in the Mitzpeh Nevo neighborhood of Ma'ale Adumim in the West Bank. It was founded in 1977 by Rabbis Haim Sabato and Yitzchak Sheilat, then two young rabbis from Yeshivat HaKotel, in Jerusalem. For the first nine years since its inception it was situated in temporary structures the Maale Adumim's industrial zone Mishor Adummim, before moving to its current campus and location in Mitzpeh Nevo.

Laura of Euthymius

The Laura of Euthymius was a laura in Palestine founded by Saint Euthymius the Great in 420. The laura, a cluster of cells for hermits around a church, was located in Adummim on the road from Jericho to Jerusalem and was based on the layout of the Pharan lavra, with small cells. Its church was dedicated by Juvenal, Bishop of Jerusalem on 7 May 428. Following the death of Euthymius on 20 January 473 the church was converted to a refectory and a new church and ceonobium were built above it.

Khan Al-Ahmar

Khan al-Ahmar is a Bedouin encampment in the West Bank, between the Israeli settlements Ma'ale Adumim and Kfar Adumim. In 2010, there were 100 Bedouin living there in tents and huts.

Bab al Shams

Bab al-Shams was a Palestinian encampment in the West Bank that housed 250 Palestinian and foreign activists for two nights in January 2013. They erected 25 tents on private Palestinian land in the E1 area where Israel has decided to build more than 3500 housing units. It was in the E1 area Israel intends to fill with houses, and, according to David Shulman, impede thereby the construction of a Palestinian state.
