Central District (Israel)
The Central District of Israel is one of six administrative districts, including most of the Sharon region. The district capital is Ramla. It is further divided into 4 sub-districts: Petah Tikva, Ramla, Sharon and Rehovot. The district's largest city is Rishon LeZion. Its population as of 2008 was 1,730,500.
Sitria
Sitria is a moshav in central Israel. Located in the Shephelah near Rehovot, it falls under the jurisdiction of Gezer Regional Council. In 2007 it had a population of 999. The moshav was founded on Lag BaOmer in 1949 by 95 families from Poland and Rumania who had been interned in a detention camp in Cyprus. Before 1948, the Sitriya (السطرية) Bedouin tribe lived in the area. According to Walid Khalidi, the moshav is built on the lands of Abu al-Fadl, a village depopulated in 1948.
Yashresh
Yashresh is a moshav in central Israel. Located in the Shephelah around three kilometres south of Ramle and covering roughly 500 dunams, it falls under the jurisdiction of Gezer Regional Council. In 2006 it had a population of 770. The moshav was founded in 1950 by immigrants from Morocco. Like neighbouring Yatzitz, its name is taken from Isaiah 27:6; In days to come shall Jacob take root, Israel shall blossom and bud; and the face of the world shall be filled with fruitage.
White Mosque (Ramla)
The White Mosque is an ancient Ummayad mosque in the city of Ramla, Palestine. Only the minaret is still standing. According to local Islamic tradition, the northwest section of the mosque contained the shrine of a famous Islamic saint, Nabi Salih.
Battle of Ramla (1102)
The second Battle of Ramla (or Ramleh) took place on 17 May 1102 between the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Fatimids of Egypt.
Battle of Ramla (1105)
The third Battle of Ramla (or Ramleh) took place on 27 August 1105 between the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Fatimids of Egypt. The town of Ramla lay on the road from Jerusalem to Ascalon, the latter of which was the largest Fatimid fortress in Palestine. From Ascalon the Fatimid vizier, Al-Afdal Shahanshah, launched almost annual attacks into the newly-founded Crusader kingdom from 1099 to 1107.

The first Battle of Ramla (or Ramleh) took place on 7 September 1101 between the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and the Fatimids of Egypt. The town of Ramla lay on the road from Jerusalem to Ascalon, the latter of which was the largest Fatimid fortress in Palestine. From Ascalon the Fatimid vizier, Al-Afdal Shahanshah, launched almost annual attacks into the newly-founded Crusader kingdom from 1099 to 1107. It was thrice the case that the two armies met each other at Ramla.
