University College Cork

University College Cork - National University of Ireland, Cork (UCC) is a constituent university of the National University of Ireland. The university is located in Cork. The university was founded in 1845 as one of three Queen’s Colleges located in Belfast, Cork, and Galway. It became University College, Cork, under the Irish Universities Act of 1908.

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral, (Irish: Ardeaglais Naomh Fionnbarra) is a cathedral of the Church of Ireland in Cork city, Ireland. It is in the ecclesiastical province of Dublin. Begun in 1863, the cathedral was the first major work of the Victorian architect William Burges. Previously the cathedral of the Diocese of Cork, it is now one of three cathedrals in the United Dioceses of Cork, Cloyne and Ross.

Musgrave Park, Cork

Musgrave Park is a rugby football stadium in the city of Cork, Ireland. The ground consists of four terraces, one stand, three tribunes, one jogging track, and two VIP stands on the west side. Musgrave has a capacity of about 9,251 (mainly terracing) and is situated on Pearse Road in Ballyphehane. Its name comes from the Musgrave Group who donated the land and own a distribution centre opposite.

St. Finbarr's Cemetery

St. Finbarr's Cemetery in Cork, Ireland, is the city's largest and one of the oldest cemeteries still in use. Located on the Glasheen Road, it was first opened in the mid 19th century. Many of the early burials were of the wealthy citizens of the city. Unlike older cemeteries, St. Finbarr's was professionally laid out with numbered pathways and wide avenues.

St. Finbarr's GAA

St. Finbarr's National Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Togher area of Cork city, County Cork, Ireland. St. Finbarrs, with the distinctive royal blue and gold jersey, and are the only club in Ireland to win All-Ireland club championships in both hurling and football. The club has won Cork County Senior Championships in every decade bar the first decade of this century.

Mardyke (cricket ground)

Mardyke is a cricket ground in Mardyke, Cork, Ireland. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1866, when Cork County played I Zingari. Some eighty years later, the ground held its inaugural first-class match when Ireland played Scotland. Two further first-class matches between the teams were held there in 1961 and 1973.

Amos Norcott

Major general Sir Amos Godsell Robert Norcott (1777-1838) of the 95th Rifles fought throughout the Peninsular War and at the Battle of Waterloo where he commanded his battalion. He was an acting Governor of Jamaica and later the Commander of Cork District.
