Institute of Technology Sligo (Irish: Institiúid Teicneolaíochta, Sligeach) (ITS) is a state funded third-level educational institution situated in the town of Sligo, Ireland. The Institute has three Schools and 9 Departments. The institute opened in 1970 as a Regional Technical College and adopted its present name on May 7, 1997. Hazelwood, County Sligo
Hazelwood (Irish: Coill an Eanaigh) is located just over 2 miles outside the town of Sligo in northwest Ireland, in the parish of Calry. It is the setting for W.B. Yeats's The Song of Wandering Aengus. Markievicz Park
Markievicz Park is the principal Gaelic Athletic Association stadium in County Sligo, Ireland, home to the Sligo football and hurling teams. Built in 1955 due mostly to Sean Forde who single-handedly gathered the funds necessary to build the stadium, it is named after Constance Markievicz, one of the participants of the 1916 Easter Rising and the first woman elected to Dáil Éireann and also the first female British MP.
The Niland Collection
The Niland Collection is Sligo's municipal art collection, named after Nora Niland, the County Librarian who began the collection in the 1950s. It has grown to over 300 works and is cared for by, and displayed at, The Model in Sligo, Ireland. The Collection was begun by Nora borrowing five works by Jack Yeats to exhibit for the duration of the first Yeats Summer School in 1959.
Calry/St. Joseph's GAA
Calry/St. Joseph's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Calry and the northern ward of Sligo, Republic of Ireland. The club was formally known as Calry Gaels until it became Calry/St. Joseph's in 1987 after a re-organisation of the GAA structures in the Sligo urban area. They have won 6 of the last 8 Sligo Senior Hurling Championships and played in 10 of the last 11 finals, winning in 2005 and again from 2007 to 2012 (Minus 2010).
