Baghdad Zoo
The Baghdad Zoo is a 200-acre zoo originally opened in 1971 and located in Baghdad, Iraq, in the al-Zawraa' Gardens area along with the Zawraa Amusement Park and Zawraa' Tower. Before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the zoo housed 650 animals. After being decimated during the 2003 Iraqi war, when only about 35 animals survived, the zoo was reopened in 2003 and now houses about 1070 animals.
Victory Arch
The Arc of Triumph also called the Swords of Qādisīyah، and Hands of Victory in some Western sources, are a pair of triumphal arches in central Baghdad, Iraq. Each arch consists of a pair of hands holding crossed swords. The two arches mark the two entrances to Great Celebrations square and the parade-ground constructed to commemorate the Iran-Iraq war, led by then Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. The arches were opened to the public on August 8, 1989.
Green Zone
The Green Zone is the most common name for the International Zone of Baghdad. It is a 10 square kilometers area of central Baghdad, Iraq, that was the governmental center of the Coalition Provisional Authority and remains the center of the international presence in the city. Its official name beginning under the Iraqi Interim Government is the International Zone, though Green Zone remains the most commonly used term.
Baghdad Tower
Baghdad Tower (previously called International Saddam Tower) is a 205 m TV tower in Baghdad, Iraq. The tower opened in 1994 and replaced a communications tower destroyed in the Gulf War. A revolving restaurant and observation deck are located on the top floor. After the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the tower was occupied by American soldiers and was renamed.

The Monument to the Unknown Soldier
The Monument to the Unknown Soldier is said to be inspired by the glorification of a martyr from the Iran–Iraq War, built in 1980 in central Baghdad when the war began. In 1986 the national square of Iraq, Great Celebrations square, was built near the monument, and in 1989 the Victory Arches were added to celebrate the victory of the war on Iran. The Monument represents a traditional shield (dira¹a) dropping from the dying grasp of an Iraqi warrior.
Al-Jihad (Bagdad)
Jihad is a neighborhood in the Al Rashid district in West Bagdad. The New York Times calls it "A former slice of mixed middle-class calm in the heart of western Baghdad, Jihad fell to Sunni insurgents after the American invasion. Flowing in from neighboring Amiriya to streets dominated by former Baathist intelligence officers, the extremist groups shot and killed barbers, government officials and businessmen and dumped their bodies in the streets for all to see.
Blackwater Baghdad shootings
On September 16, 2007, seventeen Iraqi civilian fatalities and twenty injuries occurred in the Blackwater Baghdad shootings in Nisour Square, Baghdad. The fatalities occurred while a Blackwater Personal Security Detail was clearing the way for a convoy of US State Department vehicles transporting diplomats to a meeting in western Baghdad with officials of the United States Agency for International Development. The killings outraged Iraqis and strained relations between Iraq and Washington.

During the 1991 Gulf War, three of Baghdad's 42 targets—Iraqi Air Force headquarters, Muthanna airfield, and Ba'ath party headquarters—absorbed 20 percent of the effort.

Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) is an agency of the Government of Iraq which promotes standardization and quality control. COSQC is part of the Ministry of Planning of Iraq. COSQC belongs to the International Organization for Standardization. There are about 450 manpower in COSQC All the work is done by specialized laboratories and staff of engineers, chemists, physicists, biologists, administrative and others.

Great Celebrations square
Great Celebrations square is the main square for public celebrations in Baghdad with a stadium for the heads of the state in the center of the Parade avenue. Constructed in the era of the President Saddam Hussein and were held in which all military parades and national events. The square was built in 1986, and in 1989 the Victory Arches were added to celebrate the victory in the Iran–Iraq War.

Al-Rahman mosque
The Al-Rahman mosque in Baghdad, was intended to be one of the largest mosques in Iraq. It was begun by Saddam Hussein in 1998, but work was cut short during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and it was never completed. It remains uncompleted in Baghdad's Mansour neighbourhood, in the place of the old race track. Its main, uncompleted dome, is surrounded by eight smaller, independent domes, which in turn feature eight even smaller domes integrated in their walls.
