University of Tehran
The University of Tehran, also known as Tehran University and UT, is Iran's oldest university. Based on its historical, socio-cultural and political pedigree, as well as its research and teaching profile, UT has been nicknamed "The mother university of Iran". It is almost always ranked as the best university in Iran in national and international rankings. It is also the premier knowledge producing institute among all OIC countries.
Alzahra University
Alzahra University is a female-only state-run university in Vanak, Tehran, Tehran Province, Iran. Founded in 1964 as a private institution under title of The Higher Educational Institute For Girls, it was renamed Farah Pahlavi University after empress Farah Pahlavi, the wife of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. After the Iranian revolution, the university attained a public status, and was renamed Al-Zahra University, after Fatimah Zahra, the daughter of Muhammad prophet of Islam.
Carpet Museum of Iran
Located in Tehran, beside Laleh Park, and founded in 1976, the Carpet Museum of Iran exhibits a variety of Persian carpets from all over Iran, dating from 18th century to present. The museum's exhibition hall occupies 3,400 square meters (10,200 ft²) and its library contains 7,000 books. The museum was designed by the last Queen of Iran, Farah Diba Pahlavi.
Laleh Park
Laleh Park (Pârk-e Laleh, formerly called Park-e Farah after Farah Diba), is a large recreation area of the Iranian capital Tehran. It is well-kept and has beautiful green areas adjacent to The Ministry of Agriculture in the east, Iran's National Rug Gallery to the northwest, and the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in the west. This park (one of c. 800 parks in Tehran) lies in central Tehran and north of Tehran University.
Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art
Tehran's Museum of Contemporary Art (TMOCA) is an art museum in Tehran, Iran. Inaugurated in 1977, and built adjacent to Tehran's Laleh Park, the museum was designed by Iranian architect Kamran Diba, who employed elements from traditional Persian architecture. The building can be regarded as an example of contemporary art in itself. Most of the museum area is located underground. It is considered to have the most valuable collection of Western modern art outside of Europe and the United States.
Vanak
Vanak is a neighbourhood in the northern part of Tehran, capital of Iran and there is a square and a street named after it. The word Vanak means "Small (Oak) Tree" in Persian. The name derives from the original older village of Vanak (Deh-e Vanak) in the area, and today there is also a square called Vanak nearby. Vanak is one of the important junctures in Tehran and the midpoint for some of the city's highways such as the Jahan-Kudak (now Haghani), Chamran, Hemmat and Modarres.
Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences
Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is a large medical school and one of the two medical universities in northern Tehran, Iran. It began its mission in 1964 with establishing the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. Following the merge of some of the treatment and educational units and organizations affiliated to the then Ministry of Health and “Melli University” in 1986, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences began its activities independently.
Pardisan Park
Pardisun park (also called Shahrak-e Gharb's Forest Park, Persian: پارک جنگلی شهرک غرب is a multi-purpose complex covering more than 270 hectares located in north-west Tehran. This complex is primarily an educational, research and cultural center with the objective of creating suitable facilities for the study of the environment in all its different aspects.
Tarbiat Modares University
Tarbiat Modares University (دانشگاه تربیت مدرس) is located in Tehran, Iran and was founded in 1982. Tarbiat Modares University (TMU) is the only exclusively graduate university in Iran. The university was founded to train university professors hence teaching related subjects are offered besides the main curricular ones.
Shahrak-e Gharb
Shahrak-e Gharb is a planned town built as a massive project of modern apartment buildings and villas in the north-western part of Tehran, Iran. Originally built based on the model of upscale American suburbs, today it is considered one of Tehran's neighborhoods. Its name means "the West Town".
Iran University of Medical Sciences
Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) was one of the largest medical schools in Iran. Located in Tehran, it was founded in 1974 under the name The Imperial Medical Center, and designed by William Pereira and Associates. The school was state operated, and its current reincarnation trains 7,000 students in the medical field. Its students rank among the very top 1% of Iran's students in the national ranking entrance exams for universities.
Tehran University of Medical Sciences
Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) is the largest, "most distinguished", and most highly ranked medical school of Iran. In September 2008, the health minister of Iran (Dr. Lankarani) called TUMS a pioneer in research throughout the country with a noticeable lead over its counterpart (peer) universities. Located in Tehran adjacent to the main University of Tehran campus, it was founded as part of Dar ol-Fonoon, and later absorbed into Tehran University in 1934.

Death of Neda Agha-Soltan
Footage of the death of Nedā Āghā-Soltān drew international attention after she was shot dead during the 2009 Iranian election protests. Her death was captured on video by bystanders and broadcast over the Internet and the video became a rallying point for the opposition. It was described as "probably the most widely witnessed death in human history".
