Győr
Győr is the most important city of northwest Hungary, the capital of Győr-Moson-Sopron county and Western Transdanubia region, and — halfway between Budapest and Vienna — situated on one of the important roads of Central Europe. The city is the sixth largest in Hungary, and one of the seven main regional centres of the country.
Rába
The Rába is a river in southeastern Austria and western Hungary and a right tributary of the Danube. Its source is in Austria, some kilometres east of Bruck an der Mur below Heubodenhöhe Hill. It flows through the Austrian states of Styria and Burgenland, and the Hungarian counties of Vas and Győr-Moson-Sopron. It flows into a tributary of the Danube (Mosoni-Duna) in northwestern Hungary, in the city of Győr.
Pannonhalma Archabbey
The Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey or Territorial Abbey of Pannonhalma (lat. Archiabbatia or Abbatia Territorialis Sancti Martini in Monte Pannoniae) is the most notable landmark in Pannonhalma and one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary, founded in 996. It is located near the town, on top of a hill (282 m).

The Benedictine High School of Pannonhalma is an independent Roman Catholic boarding school for boys, one of the most distinguished secondary schools in Hungary, led by and situated next to the thousand-year-old Pannonhalma Benedictine Archabbey above Pannonhalma, Győr-Moson-Sopron county.
Győr-Pér International Airport
Győr-Pér Airport is a public commercial airport with international operation capability. The airport is located on highway 81, about 15 km from Györ city centre. It lies next to route 81 towards Szekesfehervar, easily accessible from the M1 highway. The direction of the airport is shown by traffic signs in the village of Pér. Győr-Pér Airport Development Ltd. was founded in 1994 with the aim of utilizing a former military grass airfield and development to an international regional airport.
Western Transdanubia
Western Transdanubia is a statistical region of Hungary. It is part of the Transdanubia (NUTS 1) region. Western Transdanubia includes the counties of Zala, Vas, and Győr-Moson-Sopron.
Battle of Ménfő
The Battle of Ménfő was an important battle in the early history of the Kingdom of Hungary. Fought in 1044 at Ménfő, near Győr, between an army of mostly Germans and Hungarians, it was a victory for the Germans and thus for Westernising influences in Hungary. The Emperor Henry III invaded Hungary for the second time on 6 July 1044. His force was small and the Hungarian army of Samuel Aba large.
Marcal
The Marcal is a right tributary of the Rába which rises near Sümeg in the Bakony region of western Hungary. The river flows north and reaches Ukk on the Little Hungarian Plain. It follows a path similar to the Rába, and in many places the two rivers are only a kilometer apart. The two rivers meet at Győr. In October 2010, the Marcal was contaminated in a chemical spill by red mud and suffered complete loss of aquatic life.
Pápa Air Base
Pápa Air Base is a military airbase located near Pápa, Hungary. The building of the airport started in 1936. During the Second World War several German and Hungarian units used the Air Base. After the Second World War a Russian fighter regiment was stationed in Pápa. The Soviet Union’s Air Force used the base from 1945 until 1961. In 1962 and 1984 the runway was renovated. Following the reorganization of the Hungarian Air Force Pápa Air Base was established on 1 July 2001.
