Lusignan (Guyana)
Lusignan is a community in Guyana, South America. Located on the East Coast of Demerara, this village is home mainly to indo-Guyanese and is sustained by its subsistence farming and fishing industries. Ecotourism is also an emerging industry.
Ogle Airport
Ogle Airport is located on the Atlantic Ocean coast of Guyana, 6 miles east of the capital, Georgetown. In 2003 the airport was a local hub shuttling some 50,000 passengers and 1,800 tons of cargo annually. Construction began that year to expand the facility to an international airport with upgraded facilities for immigration, customs, air traffic control, health and fire service.
Annandale, Demerara-Mahaica
Annandale is a community in the Demerara-Mahaica region of Guyana, located on the Atlantic Ocean at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:6|46|58.8|N|58|1|58.8|W| | |name= }}, near Buxton. Historically, Annandale was always an "Indian (or Indo-Guyanese)" village, but today it has sizeable populations of Blacks and Indians. Note Indians are still the largest ethnic group here. Its divided in Annandale North, South, West and Courabane Park.
Beterverwagting
Beterverwagting, also known as B. V, is a village located in South America Guyana; on the East Coast of the Demerara River. Located roughly 10 miles from the capital, Georgetown, its an important feeder village for the sugar estate located in La Bonne Intention, a village adjacent to it. The name Beterverwagting comes from the Dutch words "Beter verwachting" which literally means "better expectation". It was the birthplace of British actor and singer Cy Grant.
Lusignan Massacre
The Lusignan Massacre refers to the murder of eleven residents of Lusignan, East Coast Demarara, Guyana on January 26, 2007. The victims were murdered by a group led by Rondell "Fineman" Rawlins. After carrying out another massacre when they attacked the town of Bartica, Essequibo and murdered 12 people, Rawlins and many of the other suspected gang members were later killed by Guyanese security forces.
Plaisance, Guyana
Plaisance is a village in Guyana between Better Hope and Goedverwagting. It was purchased by freed slaves from cattle farmer A J Watershodt for $39,000 after the abolition of slavery in 1838. It was officially declared a village in 1892. Famous people associated with the village include musician brothers Eddy Grant and Rudy Grant, who were born there.
