Sacatepéquez Department
Sacatepéquez is one of the 22 departments of Guatemala. Population estimate 265,500 in 2000. The name comes from Sacatepéquez, a city from November 21, 1542 until July 29, 1773 when it was destroyed by the Santa Marta earthquake. Sacatepéquez means grasshill in the Pipil Maya dialect. The capital of Sacatepéquez is Antigua Guatemala. Other important cities include Ciudad Vieja.

Estadio Pensativo
Estadio Pensativo is a football stadium in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala. The venue is home to second division club Antigua GFC (Panzas Verdes), and has a maximum capacity of 9,000 people. The stadium is also the home of women's first division club Santiago de los Caballeros, and in 2011 it hosted three matches of the 2011 CONCACAF U-17 Championship qualification between Panama, Honduras, and Guatemala.

Mayan women in the area use a backstrap loom to weave traditional patterns. There is a two story market on the square that sells weavings and other crafts. Several of the women have their looms set up and will demonstrate their skills. There are a couple other stores outside of town that also sell weavings.

Amatitlán
Amatitlán is a town in the Guatemala department of Guatemala. The main industry of the town during colonial times was the preparation of cochineal. Nowadays, it has the largest duty-free zone in Guatemala, and a lot of maquila (garment assembly) factories, employing thousands of people, mainly women. The town lies by the side of Lake Amatitlán and it is a popular place for the middle class from Guatemala City to visit on weekends. Typical Guatemalan candy is usually bought by visitors.
San Juan del Obispo
San Juan del Obispo is a small village (pueblo) in Guatemala. It is located in the department of Sacatepéquez, close to the departmental capital Antigua Guatemala. The village is famous for holding one of the first Catholic churches in Guatemala; the first bishop of Guatemala resided in San Juan del Obispo (hence the name).
Lake Amatitlán
Lake Amatitlán (Lago de Amatitlán) is a volcanic lake in south-central Guatemala, fairly close to Guatemala City. It lies in the central highlands, 1,186 m (3890 feet) above sea level. Its maximum depth is 33 m (108 feet) and an average of 18 m (59 feet). The lake is 11 km (7 miles) long and 3 km (2 miles) wide; with an area of 15.2 square kilometers and a water volume of 0.286 cubic kilometers.

One of the biggest housing developments near Guatemala City, it was first developed by DEINCO, a major real estate company, in 1973. The Kaqchikel capital was called Guatemala by the Spanish, with its origin in the Nahuatl word Quauhtemallan, which means "forested land".
