Myrtos
Myrtos is a coastal village in the west of the municipality of Ierapetra, in the regional unit of Lasithi on the island of Crete in Greece. It is located 14.5 km from Ierapetra, the most southern town of Europe and 50.5 km from Agios Nikolaos, on the road to Viannos. Myrtos is situated at the Libyan Sea. The population of the village in 2010 is about 600 people. Myrtos has a rich history, and although many think it is a poor town it has prospered with the advent of tourism.

Lake Voulismeni
Lake Voulismeni is a former sweetwater small lake, later connected to the sea, located at the centre of the town of Agios Nikolaos on the Greek island of Crete It has a circular shape of a diameter of 137 m and depth 64 m. The locals refer to it as just "the lake". The lake connects to the harbour of the town by a channel dug in 1870. A panoramic view of the lake can be seen from a small park situated above it. According to legend, the goddess Athena bathed in it.
Kroustas
Kroustas is a small village close to Agios Nikolaos on the island of Crete, Greece. It is located on a hill 520 m above the sea level. In the year 2001 the village had around 500 inhabitants. Kroustas is known for its magnificent view of Mirabello Bay. It is also known for its traditional cuisine including myzithropites (special cheese pies), ftazymo bread and aiga vrasti (boiled goat). In the past people of Kroustas were shepherds and land workers.
Karfi
Karfi, Crete, (also Karphi, Greek: Καρφί) is a little-visited archaeological site high in the Dikti Mountains that is akin to Machu Picchu for the Minoan civilization. When the warlike mixed group conventionally referred to as Dorians arrived in Crete from the Peloponnese after ca 1100 BCE, archaeological reconstructions suggest that they would have found the Minoan people living along with the Mycenaeans, surviving as an underclass.
Psychro Cave
Psychro Cave is an ancient Minoan sacred cave in the Lasithi district of eastern Crete. Psychro is associated with the Diktaean Cave, the putative site of Zeus' birth. According to Hesiod, Theogony 477, Rhea gave birth to Zeus in a cave of Mount Aegaeon, near Lyttos; since the late nineteenth century the cave above the modern village of Psychro has been identified with this sanctuary.
Dikti
Dikti or Dicte (also Lasithiotika Ori, Greek: Λασιθιώτικα Όρη) is a mountain range on the east of the island of Crete in the regional unit of Lasithi. On the west it extends to the regional unit of Heraklion. According to the Greek Mythology, Zeus was reared on this mountain in a cave called Dictaeon Andron. On the north of the main massif, the plateau of Lasithi is located. The topology of the mountain range is rich with many plateaus, valleys and secondary peaks.
Lato
Lato was an ancient city of Crete, the ruins of which are located approximately 3 km from the small town of Kritsa. The Dorian city-state was built in a defensible position overlooking Mirabello Bay between two peaks, both of which became acropolises to the city. Although the city probably predates the arrival of the Dorians, the ruins date mainly from the Dorian period (5th and 4th centuries BCE). The city was destroyed c.

Anatoli is a small village in the Ierapetra municipality of the prefecture of Lasithi in eastern Crete. It is built 600 meters above sea level and the view over Ierapetra to the sea with Chrysi island opposite, is unique. It is called the "Libyan sea balcony". Despite the destruction of the surrounding wooded area, due to fire in recent years, the whole landscape is fantastic.
Kritsa
Kritsa is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages in Crete, Greece, built amphitheatrically on a rock hill, named Kastellos, surrounded by olive groves, at an altitude of 375 m. It is part of the municipality of Agios Nikolaos. During the Middle Ages, it was thought to be the largest village in Crete. Kritsa has been destroyed many times during the last centuries because it participated in all of Crete's revolutions.
Males, Crete
Males is a historic village in the municipality of Ierapetra in Lasithi prefecture on Crete. It is situated 25 kilometers north-west of Ierapetra, 40 from Agios Nikolaos and 12 kilometers away from the sea. Together with nearby hamlets Hristos and Metaxohori Males until recently formed the Nea Mala municipality. It is built 550 meters above sea level, south east of Dikti mountain, in an area rich in vegetation. It is built where the ancient city of Mala was.
Ano Simi
Ano Simi is a village on Crete in the prefecture of Lasithi. It is part of Ierapetra municipality and borders Viannos municipality. It lies about 900 meters above sea level, south of Mount Dikti in what is probably the most wooded area of Crete. It is about 1 kilometer from Kato Simi, and 32 kilometers from Ierapetra.
Selakano
Selakano is a forested valley and a hamlet in the municipality of Ierapetra on the island of Crete. Selakano forms one of the most important ecosystems on Crete. The forest core of wild pine is also important on the Mediterranean level. It is located in the northwestern territories of Ierapetra in the southeastern part of the Dikti massif, surrounded by the four highest peaks (Lazaros 2085 m, Spathi 2148 m, Afendis Christos 2141 m, Psari Madara 2090 m).
Gdochia
Gdochia is a village on Crete 20 kilometers west of Ierapetra built in an area with spectacular view of Ierapetra town and the sea. It is said to receive his name from an ancient word that means "it has rain". In September 1943, over 40 residents of Gdochia were brutally executed by the Nazis.

Naxos (Crete)
Naxos or Naxus was an ancient town of Crete, according to the Scholiast (ad Pind. Isth. vi. 107) celebrated for its whetstones. Some classicists have doubted the existence of this city. The islands Crete and Naxos were famed for their whetstones (Plin. xxxvi. 22; xviii. 28), hence the confusion. Modern scholarship and archaeology seem to confirm its existence. Naxos was located near the ancient city of Olous, atop a mountain now called Oxa where ruins can still be found.
Exo Lakkonia
Exo Lakkonia is a traditional village with small population near Agios Nikolaos of Crete. It has a folklore museum and some traditional coffee shops and an old church of St. George. It is located in a plain between the Oropedio Lasithiou and the area of Agios Nikolaos. A lot of European people have invested in the property in the area. It is also famous for a spring of water coming from the Lasithi mountain.
Sykologos
. Sykologos is a village and a community in the southeastern part of the Heraklion regional unit, in Crete, Greece. Its population in 2001 was 359 for the village, and 439 for the community, which includes the villages Ano Vigla and Tertsa. It is 81.5 km from Heraklion, 16 km from Ano Viannos, 28 km from Ierapetra and 7.5 km from the coastline of the Libyan Sea at Tertsa. Today it is a part of Municipality of Viannos. Olives and bananas are the main crops.
Archaeological Museum of Agios Nikolaos
The Archaeological Museum of Agios Nikolaos is a museum in Agios Nikolaos, Crete, Greece. Established in 1970, the museum contains archaeological finds in chronological order beginning with the Neolithic era, Minoan remains, and ending with Greco-Roman finds. It consists of eight large rooms and amongst its most famous exhibits is the Goddess of Mirtos, a libation vessel in the form of a female figure discovered at a Bronze Age settlement at Fournos, near Mirtos.
Limnakaro
Limnakaro is a small (approx. 1000 m in the E-W direction and 600 m in the N-S) plateau located south of the Lassithi plateau, near the villages of Avrakondes and Agios Georgios in eastern Crete, Greece. Limnakaro lies at about 1120 m above sea level, at the feet of the Spathi summit that rises at 2148 m. Because of its altitude, the plateau is mainly used as grazing grounds for sheep and goats. It has a rich wild flora and grows a number of walnut, pear, apple and chestnut trees.
Katharo
Katharo is a plateau on the Dikti mountain on the island of Crete, in the regional unit of Lasithi. Administratively it belongs to the municipality of Agios Nikolaos, (municipal division of Kritsa). It is 16 km from Kritsa (asphalt road) and 12 km from Mesa Lassithi (rough mountain road). It is 4 km long, 1.5 km wide and at an average altitude of 1,150 m above sea level, (300 m higher than Lasithi Plateau).
Kato Symi
Kato Symi is a small historic village of Crete, in Heraklion regional unit, 31 kilometers from Ierapetra and 74 kilometers from Heraklion city. Today it belongs to Viannos municipality and borders with Ierapetra municipality. It lies about 780 meters above sea level, south of Mount Dikti in a mountainous verdant area, which is probably the most wooded of Crete. Nearby the village, at an altitude of 1200 meters, lies the ancient sanctuary of Hermes and Aphrodite.
Meseleroi
Meseleroi is a village in the east of the Greek island of Crete, in the regional unit of Lasithi. It is located 9km north of Ierapetra, and lies within its administrative limits. The village is 360 meters above sea level. Meseleroi is named after the ancient town Oleros, as it is located in the middle . A few ancient ruins in the area still survive to this day.
Lasithi Province
Lasithi Province was one of the 4 provinces in Lasithi Prefecture of Greece. Its territory corresponded with that of the current municipality Oropedio Lasithiou and one village of the municipality Agios Nikolaos (Exo Potamoi). It was abolished in 2006.
