Bolgatanga
Bolgatanga, colloquially known as Bolga, is a town and the capital of both the Bolgatanga Municipal District and the Upper East Region of Ghana. Bolgatanga is the twenty-seventh most populous settlement in Ghana, in terms of population, with a population of 66,685 people. Bolga is the major town between Tamale, 161 km (about 100 miles) to the south, and the border with Burkina Faso.

The Bolgatanga Municipal District is one of the nine (9) districts in the Upper East Region of Ghana. Its capital is the town Bolgatanga, which also serves as the capital of the Upper East Region.
