Großer Garten

The Großer Garten is a baroque style park in Dresden. It is oblong in shape and covers an area of about 2 km² in a central location of the city. Established in 1676, it has been a public garden since 1814. Pathways and avenues are arranged symmetrically throughout its area. A central feature of the park is the Sommerpalais. Established outside the old walls of the city, the park was encompassed by the significant growth of the urban area in the second half of the 19th century.

New Synagogue (Dresden)

The New Synagogue in Dresden was completed in 2001 and designed by architects Rena Wandel-Hoefer and Wolfgang Lorch. It was built on the same location as the Semper Synagogue (1839–1840) designed by Gottfried Semper, which was destroyed in 1938, during the Kristallnacht. The boundary wall of the New Synagogue incorporates the last remaining fragments of Semper's original building.

Waldschlösschen Bridge

The Waldschlösschen Bridge (German: Waldschlößchenbrücke or Waldschlösschenbrücke) is a bridge under construction across the river Elbe in Dresden. The bridge is intended to remedy inner-city traffic congestion. Its construction is highly controversial, as the Dresden Elbe Valley had been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and UNESCO expressed strong concerns against the bridge, noting its intent to withdraw the World Heritage title if the bridge is built.

Semper Synagogue

The Semper Synagogue, also known as the Dresden Synagogue, was built in 1838-40 for the Jewish community of Dresden by Gottfried Semper. It was an early example of the Moorish Revival style of synagogue architecture. While the exterior was Romanesque, its interior featured the richly ornamented interior that was to become the hallmark of Moorish Revival architecture. The elaborate Arabic-style interior had a two-tiered balcony supported by columns copied from the Alhambra.

Johannstadt Neustadt Ferry

The Johannstadt Neustadt Ferry is a passenger ferry across the Elbe river in Germany. It crosses between the districts of Johannstadt and Neustadt in the city of Dresden. The ferry service is operated by the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB), Dresden's municipal transport authority. The service is maintained by one of the DVB's fleet of five passenger ferries. All the vessels are diesel propelled but of different designs. The oldest ferry dates from 1927 and the most recent from 2004.

Sarrasani is a German circus that reached world fame before World War II and was resident in Dresden, but became also known as national circus of Argentina during the years of German separation. Sarrasani was founded by Hans Stosch, a clown with the stage name Giovanni Sarrasani, who was born 1873 in Poznań. The Dresden park railway is a 381 minimum gauge railway in Dresden, Germany. The line opened in 1950 and has previously been known as the Kindereisenbahn and the Pioniereisenbahn. The Albertstadt is a neighboorhood of Dresden, Germany. It was named after Albert of Saxony, who initiated the build of this suburb. At that time it was the biggest coherent barrack arrangement of Germany. Today, the Military History Museum of the German Federal Armed Forces is located in one of the former military arsenals. Though being the major military center of the region, the quarter was not specially attacked in the 1945 allied bombings and it suffered only marginal destruction.

The Trinitatiskirche (Trinity Church) was a church building dedicated to the Holy Trinity in the Johannstadt district of Dresden. It was built from 1891 to 1893. The bombing raids of February 1945 completely burned down its aisle, badly damaged the main walls and parish hall, slightly damaged the bell tower and completely destroyed the roof and interior. The debris began to be removed in 1945 and the tower provisionally repaired in 1950.

Kreuzschule

The Kreuzschule in Dresden, (also known by its Latin name schola crucis) is the oldest surviving school in Dresden and one of the oldest in Germany. As early as 1300, a schoolmaster (Cunradus puerorum rector) was mentioned. It was founded as a grammar school for the singers of the capella sanctae crucis, now the Dresdner Kreuzchor. The school is now a Protestant Gymnasium, officially called Evangelisches Kreuzgymnasium.
