Splash! (festival)
The Splash! Festival is one of Europe's biggest hip hop and reggae festivals which used to take place at the Oberrabenstein reservoir near Chemnitz, Germany until 2006. Due to a financial crisis caused by heavy rain in 2005 and 2006, starting 2007 the festival is held on the Pouch peninsula in Bitterfeld, Saxony-Anhalt. The first Splash! took place in 1998 in the inner city of Chemnitz, in a former powerhouse. From 1999 on, it was hillside the Oberrabenstein reservoir.
Gunzenhauser Museum
The Gunzenhauser Museum is a museum and art gallery located in Chemnitz; third largest city of Saxony, Germany. It contains 2,459 works by 270 modern artists of the 20th century that have been collected by the art dealer Dr. Alfred Gunzenhauser. The Gunzenhauser Museum was inaugurated in December 2007 in the presence of the German President Horst Köhler and is one of the most important museums of Modern Art in Germany.
Saxon Railway Museum
The Saxon Railway Museum (Sächsisches Eisenbahnmuseum or SEM) is located in Chemnitz, in the state of Saxony, eastern Germany. It is situated on the site of the former locomotive depot for goods train locomotives in the district Hilbersdorf. After the locomotive depot was closed in 1992, the society moved into the buildings which were protected as historical monuments. As a result the museum has two roundhouses with 20-metre turntables.
Limbach Municipal Church
Limbach Municipal Church is a church in Limbach-Oberfrohna in Saxony (Germany), which was built in 16th century. In 1811 it was transformed into a municipal church and in 1894 it was enlarged. In 1899 its tower was renewed after the old one was destroyed by lightning. On January 25, 2009 a speeding car crashed into the roof of the church, whereby the driver was severely hurt.
Chemnitz Opera
The Chemnitz Opera (Opernhaus Chemnitz) is an opera house and opera company in Chemnitz. The building, designed by the German architect Richard Möbius, was constructed between 1906 and 1909. Following its destruction during World War II, it was reconstructed between 1947 and 1951. It was renovated again in 1988 - 1992, and is considered to be one of the most modern opera houses in Europe. The house can accommodate 720 patrons.
Botanischer Garten Chemnitz
The Botanischer Garten Chemnitz (12 hectares) is a municipal botanical garden located at Leipziger Straße 147, Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. It is open daily without charge. The garden was founded in 1898 on a 1-hectare site, and extended in 1933 with an additional 1.75 hectares of orchards. It was badly damaged during World War II, and reconstructed during the 1950s. Today's garden was organized in 1996, with new greenhouses built in 1998 and 2002.
Arktisch-Alpiner Garten der Walter-Meusel-Stiftung
The Arktisch-Alpiner Garten der Walter-Meusel-Stiftung (2,800 m²) is a nonprofit botanical garden specializing in arctic and alpine plants. It is maintained by the Walter Meusel Foundation at Schmidt-Rottluff-Straße 90, Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany, and open daily except Sunday. The Arctic-Alpine Garden was founded in 1956 by Walter Meusel, a musician, composer, and author of zoological and botanical books.

Trams in Chemnitz
The Chemnitz tramway network is the centrepiece of the public transport system in Chemnitz, in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. Opened in 1880 as a horsecar system, the network was converted to a electrically powered system between 1893 and 1898. The network's gauge, originally 914mm, was widened to 925mm by the outbreak of World War I. From the 1950s, the gauge was widened further, to sg, although the gauge conversion work was not completed until as late as 1988.
