Johann Friedrich Naumann (14 February 1780 – 15 August 1857) was a German scientist, engraver and editor. He is regarded as the founder of scientific ornithology in Europe. He published The Natural History of German Birds (1820–1844) and The Eggs of German Birds (1818–1828). His father Johann Andreas Naumann (1744–1826) was a naturalist and his brother Carl Andreas Naumann (1786–1854) was also an ornithologist.

Leipzig/Halle Airport
Leipzig/Halle Airport, sometimes called Schkeuditz Airport, is located in Schkeuditz, Saxony and serves both Leipzig, Saxony and Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It has more than two million passengers per year. The modern airport terminal structure extends over the adjacent motorway and railway. The terminal access is south of the railway while the runway 08L/26R parallels the driveway north of the railway, requiring aircraft to taxi on a bridge over the tracks and roads.
Kursdorf
Kursdorf is a village in Schkeuditz municipality, Saxony, Germany, near the border to Saxony-Anhalt. The small town is located right in the middle of the Leipzig/Halle Airport. It has a decreasing population of less than 200 people, due to its location. It is surrounded by runways on the north and south, as well as a rail track due north which connects it and the airport with the cities of Leipzig and Halle/Saale.
Halle concentration camp
The Halle concentration camp was a Nazi Germany Buchenwald subcamp that provided forced labor for the Siebel aircraft manufacturer in July 1944 under agreement with the SS-Wirtschafts-Verwaltungshauptamt (SS-WVHA). Laborers were also provided to the "Bauleitung Professor Doktor Ingenieur Rimpl, Kostenstell B-XII". At a cost of six/four Reichsmarks per day, skilled/unskilled laborers were used in the metalworking department to construct parts for airplane wings.

Luna Park, Leipzig
Luna Park was an amusement park near Leipzig, Germany that existed from 1912 to 1932. It was built around the Auensee lake, a former gravel pit. The park featured a scenic railroad ride, a hippodrome, a dance hall, restaurants, and a public beach. Immensely popular prior to the onset of World War I, Luna Park's fortunes waned in the latter 1920s and early 1930s as the effects of the Great Depression encircled the world. The park ceased operating as a commercial enterprise on January 13, 1932.

It is served by local trains to the cities of Halle (Saale) and Leipzig, as well as long-distance trains, most of them ICE services following the Erfurt–Leipzig/Halle high-speed railway line. From 2014 S-Bahn trains will also stop at the station.

The Leipziger Parkeisenbahn (Leipzig park railway) is a 15 minimum gauge railway in Leipzig, Germany. The line is also known as the Parkeisenbahn Auensee. The Railway was first opened in 1951 as "Pioniereisenbahn", one of the children's railways in the former Eastern Bloc- Countries. The line of 1.9 kilometres goes around a lake called Auensee (formed in 1909, from a gravel pit, the material used to build Leipzig Central Station).
