Echternach
Echternach is a commune with city status in the canton of Echternach, which is part of the district of Grevenmacher, in eastern Luxembourg. Echternach lies near the border with Germany, and is the oldest town (current population 4,610) in Luxembourg. It grew around the walls of the Abbey of Echternach, which was founded in 698 by St. Willibrord, an English monk from Ripon, Northumbria, who became the first bishop of Utrecht and worked to Christianize the Frisians.

Abbey of Echternach
The Abbey of Echternach is a Benedictine monastery in the town of Echternach, in eastern Luxembourg. The Abbey was founded by St Willibrord, the patron saint of Luxembourg, in the 7th century. For three hundred years, it benefited from the patronage of a succession of rulers, and was the most powerful institution in Luxembourg. The abbey is now a popular tourist attraction, and owes much of its modern fame to an annual dancing procession that is held every Whit Tuesday.
Prüm (river)
The Prüm is a river in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, left tributary of the Sauer. Its total length is 95 km, and its basin area is 889 km². The Prüm rises in the Schneifel hills, north of the town of Prüm, close to the border with Belgium. It flows southward through Prüm, Waxweiler, Holsthum, and Irrel. The Prüm discharges to the Sauer in Minden, on the border with Luxembourg, three kilometres east of Echternach. The largest tributary of the Prüm is the Nims.

The Nims is a river in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, left tributary of the Prüm. Its total length is 59 km. The Nims originates in the Eifel hills, east of the town of Prüm. It flows south through Schönecken, Seffern, and through the western quarters of Bitburg. The Nims joins the Prüm in Irrel.

Prehistory Museum, Echternach
The Prehistory Museum (Musée de la préhistoire) in Echternach, Luxembourg, houses a collection of prehistoric artefacts principally from Luxembourg, northern Europe and France testifying to the history of mankind for more than a million years. It is located in the 15th century Hihof building in the centre of the town.
