Tuffi
Tuffi (*1946 in India, † 1989 in Paris, France) was a female circus elephant that became famous in Germany in 1950 when she jumped from the suspended monorail in Wuppertal into the river below. On 21 July 1950 the circus director Franz Althoff had Tuffi, then 4 years old, take the Schwebebahn in Wuppertal, as a marketing gag.
Barmen
Barmen is a former industrial metropolis of the region of Bergisches Land, Germany, which merged with four other towns in 1929 with the city of Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia. Barmen was the birthplace of Friedrich Engels and together with the neighbouring town of Elberfeld founded the first electric suspended monorail tramway system, the Schwebebahn floating tram.

It is the oldest electric elevated railway with hanging cars in the world and is a unique system.
Ronsdorf
Ronsdorf is a district of the German town Wuppertal. It has population of about 22.500. Ronsdorf was first mentioned in 1494, and in 1745 it received its town character. It was founded only a few years before by Elias Eller when he relocated the Zionites there from Elberfeld. Ronsdorf was made a part of Wuppertal in 1929. Ronsdorf consists, in addition to the town Ronsdorf, of the villages Heidt, Erbschlö, Holthausen, Blombach, Linde, Marscheid, Großsporkert, Kleinsporkert and Kleinbeek.

1988 Remscheid A-10 crash
The 1988 Remscheid A-10 crash occurred on December 8, 1988, when a United States Air Force attack jet, an A-10 Thunderbolt II crashed onto a residential area in the city of Remscheid, West Germany. The aircraft crashed into the upper floor of an apartment complex. In addition to the pilot, five people were killed. Fifty others were injured, including many seriously. According to press reports the plane was engaged in a low-altitude flight exercise.
Biblical Archaeological Institute
The Biblical Archaeological Institute Wuppertal (BAI) was established in 1999 by the Protestant Church of the Rhineland. It constitutes an institute of the “Protestant University of Wuppertal” as well as an associated institute of the University of Wuppertal and holds the right to award doctorates at both universities. The necessary financial endowment is provided by the “Friends of the BAI” (e.V.).
