Erft
The Erft is a river in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It flows through the foothills of the Eifel, and joins the Lower Rhine (left tributary). Its origin is near Nettersheim, and its mouth in Neuss-Grimlinghausen south of the Josef-Cardinal-Frings-bridge. The river is 103 km long, which is significantly shorter than it was originally. Due to the open-pit mining of lignite in the Hambacher Loch, the flow of the river had to be changed.
University of Düsseldorf
Heinrich Heine University, located in Düsseldorf, Germany, is named after German poet and political thinker Heinrich Heine, who was born in Düsseldorf in 1797. It became a full-fledged university in 1965 and currently comprises faculties of law, medicine, philosophy, mathematics and natural sciences, and economics. Its current enrollment is about 20,000 students. The rector is Prof. Dr. Hans Michael Piper.
Rheinturm
The Rheinturm (Rhine Tower) is a 240.5 metre high concrete telecommunications tower in Düsseldorf, capital of the federal state (Bundesland) of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Construction commenced in 1979 and finished in 1981. The Rheinturm carries aerials for directional radio, FM and TV transmitters. It stands 174.5 metres high and houses a revolving restaurant and an observation deck at a height of 170 metres. It is the tallest building in Düsseldorf.
Düssel
The Düssel is a small right tributary of the River Rhine in North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. Its source is between Wülfrath and Velbert. It flows westward through the Neander Valley where the fossils of the first Neanderthal man were found in 1856. At Düsseldorf it forms a river delta by splitting into four streams (Nördliche Düssel, Südliche Düssel, Kittelbach, Brückerbach), which all join the Rhine after a few kilometers.

The Fachhochschule Düsseldorf is a Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) with departments for social sciences and cultural studies, technical sciences, architecture, media, design and business education in Düsseldorf. Its foundation was in 1971. It is the second largest University of Applied Sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia, after the Fachhochschule Köln (Cologne).

Bilk, Oberbilk and Unterbilk are parts of Düsseldorf and together with Hamm, Flehe and Volmerswerth they constitute City District 3, which is the most populated district of Düsseldorf with 105,281 inhabitants. The renowned Heinrich-Heine-University is located in Bilk.

The Sternwarte Düsseldorf (a.k.a. Sternwarte Bilk, Sternwarte Charlottenruhe; Bilk Observatory or Düsseldorf-Bilk Observatory in English) in Düsseldorf-Bilk was founded in 1843 by Johann Friedrich Benzenberg for private purposes. The observatory's main feature was a refracting telescope with 1800mm focal length. After Benzenberg's death the observatory was bequeathed to the city of Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf-Flehe
Flehe is a borough of Düsseldorf. It les directly at the river Rhine, neighbouring to Volmerswerth, Himmelgeist and Bilk. The name Flehe comes from the middle-age German word flet for stream or flee for "near the stream". Flehr became a part of Düsseldorf in 1384, but it was mentioned first time in 1402. Although Flehe is a part of Düsseldorf, it has a structure dominated by agriculture.
Volmerswerth
Volmerswerth is a borough in western Düsseldorf, District 3, by the river Rhine. It borders the boroughs Hamm, Bilk and Flehe. Its area is 2.17 km². Despite increaseing urbanisation, the rural environs of Volmerswerth still draw many people from Düsseldorf and the surrounding Rhineland conurbation. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists, whilst in-line skaters are often seen by the Rhine at weekends.
Düsseldorf-Hamm
Hamm is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. To separate it from the Westphalian City Hamm, locals often call it Kappes-Hamm (Kappes is the word for kale in the local dialect). Hamm is located on the River Rhine, neighboring to the boroughs Bilk, Volmerswerth, and the central harbour of Düsseldorf. It has about 3,700 inhabitants and is one of the smallest boroughs of Düsseldorf.
Düsseldorf-Friedrichstadt
Friedrichstadt is an urban borough of Düsseldorf. It is in the south of the Central District of Düsseldorf, north of Bilk, west of Oberbilk, and east of Unterbilk. Friedrichstadt was completely planned and constructed in the middle of the 19th century. The construction began in 1854 after it was planned completely in a tesselated paradigm. It was named in honour to King Frederick William IV of Prussia.

Düsseldorf-Hafen means the harbour of Düsseldorf. More than that, Hafen is the name of the Düsseldorf district in which the harbour is located. The borough covers 3.85 km, but there were only 212 inhabitants in the year 2000. With 55 inhabitants per km², this is the thinnest density of population in Düsseldorf. For decades the harbour has been an area of workers, industry and trade.

The Flehe Bridge, is a single tower cable stayed bridge located in Düsseldorf,over the Rhine. It connects the A 46 motorway from the left bank of the Rhine with the Bergisches Land on the right bank and the south of Düsseldorf. It forms at the same time the southern part of the ring of motorways around Düsseldorf. It includes a pedestrian and cyclist strip.

Stadttor
Stadttor is a 20-storey 84 m skyscraper in Unterbilk neighborhood of Düsseldorf, Germany. The building was designed by Düsseldorf-based architecture firm Petzinka, Overdiek und Partner and completed in 1998. It marks the Southern entrance of Rheinufertunnel, which is also reason for its parallelogram-shaped floor plan. The building features a 15-story atrium and a double-facades, allowing natural ventilation even on higher elevation floors. The total gross floor area is some 30,000 m .
Neuer Zollhof
Neuer Zollhof or Der Neue Zollhof (The New Zollhof), located at Neuer Zollhof 2-6, Unterbilk, is a prominent landmark of Media Harbor, part of the redeveloped port of Düsseldorf, Germany. The building complex consisting of three separate buildings, was designed by American architect Frank O. Gehry and completed in 1998. Floorplans and facades of all three buildings curve and lean, reason for them being likened to leaning towers. The tallest building is 14 stories high and just under 50 m tall.
