Ruhr University Bochum
Ruhr University Bochum (German Ruhr-Universität Bochum, RUB), located on the southern hills of central Ruhr area Bochum, was founded in 1962 as the first new public university in Germany since World War II. Instruction began in 1965. The Ruhr-University Bochum is one of the largest universities in Germany and part of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the most important German research funding organization.
Herbede
Since 1975 the former city of Herbede is a part of the city of Witten. As one of the eight boroughs of Witten it now calls Witten-Herbede. Before the incorporation with Witten in 1975 Herbede has been a city in the administrative district Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis. Herbede is placed about 5 kilometres southwest of the City of Witten in the southern Ruhr area in the Ruhr valley and has about 15,000 inhabitants today.

Grumme is a quarter of the Westphalian city of Bochum in Germany. It is north of the city centre. Grumme has a tram line running from Gerthe to Hattingen. Grumme is world famous because of the Starlight Express. The Starlight Express is the most-viewed musical in the world. It is famous for its parks and avenues, the German Mining Museum, many hospitals and old buildings. It is one of the wealthiest parts of the Ruhr Area. Grumme houses the largest stadium in Bochum, the Ruhrstadion.

Gerthe is a part of the city of Bochum in the Ruhr area in Germany. Up to the 19th century Westphalian was spoken here. Gerthe is a district in the working-class north of Bochum, in the northeast, bordering Herne and Castrop-Rauxel. The tramline to Hattingen starts here.

Langendreer is the most populous district of the city of Bochum in the Ruhr area in Germany. Langendreer is between Dortmund, the largest city of Westphalia and Langendreer-Alter Bahnhof, another district of Bochum. Langendreeer includes Kaltehardt, a mainly residential area. Langendreer is in the East of Bochum. Bochum-Langendreer station is one of the largest railway stations in Bochum and the district is also served by Bochum-Langendreer West station.

Bochum Central Station
Bochum Central Station (Bochum Hauptbahnhof) is a railway station for the city of Bochum in western Germany. In its current incarnation, it was built from 1955 to 1957 and is one of the most notable 1950s railway stations in Germany. The station underwent extensive remodeling and modernisation from 2004 to 2006 and was officially reopened on 29 May 2006.
Graf-Engelbert-Schule
Graf-Engelbert School is an urban high school for boys and girls in Bochum, Germany. Near the center of the city and the tree-lined Königsallee, it is located on Else-Hirsch-Straße. Else Hirsch was a teacher in Bochum during the Third Reich and organized ten children's transports, saving many lives, though she herself perished in the Holocaust. Graf-Engelbert School is only a few hundred meters from the Schiller School (also a high school).
Hardenstein Castle
Hardenstein Castle is a ruined castle in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The remains lie east of Herbede on the Ruhr River, surrounded by mountains, and are not easily accessible. Nearby ruins show that the castle was once part of an important mining centre, probably dating to the Middle Ages; the earliest records, from the 16th century, support this. The castle features in the legend of the Nibelungs.
Botanischer Garten der Ruhr-Universität Bochum
The Botanischer Garten der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (13 hectares), also known as the Botanischer Garten Bochum, is a botanical garden maintained by the Ruhr University Bochum. It is located at Universitätsstraße 150, Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and open daily without charge. The garden was founded in 1968 and subsequently has been continuously expanded and improved.
Gymnasium am Ostring
The Gymnasium am Ostring was the oldest gymnasium in Bochum. It was founded in 1860 and closed after the 2009-2010 school year. The school was located in downtown Bochum, near the main train station. In the 2005-2006 school year, there were 786 students and 55 teachers. In the early 80s, the school had over 1,000 students. The peak enrollment was 1,310 in the 1980-1981 school year. In humanities tradition, the school offered Latin, ancient Greek, and Hebrew.
Albert-Einstein-Schule
Albert-Einstein-Schule was a Gymnasium for boys and girls from grades 5-13 in Bochum, Germany. It had about 900 students. Just south of downtown Bochum, the school was in the Wiemelhausen section of town and shared a campus with the Hans Böckler Realschule. The school had an emphasis in natural science and English. It had a bilingual program, where some classes were taught in English, rather than German. Albert-Einstein-Schule was certified as a European School in February 2008.

Bochum-Langendreer station
Bochum-Langendreer station is now a stop on the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn in the district of Langendreer in eastern Bochum in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Langendreer formerly had a 40 hectare marshalling yard, which is now used as a depot, with the location code of EBLA. Until the 1980s, the yard was also the location of a passenger station, which was served by express trains.

The German Mining Museum in Bochum (German: Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum) or DBM is one of the most visited museums in Germany with around 400,000 visitors per year. Above-ground exhibitions and a faithfully reconstructed show mine below the museum terrain give visitors insights into the world of mining.
