Spree
The Spree is a river that flows through the Saxony, Brandenburg and Berlin states of Germany, and in the Ústí nad Labem region of the Czech Republic. It is a left bank tributary of the River Havel and is approximately 400 kilometres in length. The reach of the river between the Dämeritzsee and Müggelsee to the east of Berlin is known as the Müggelspree.
Spandau Citadel
The Spandau Citadel is a fortress in Berlin, Germany, one of the best-preserved Renaissance military structures of Europe. Built from 1559–94 atop a medieval fort on an island created by the meeting of the Havel and the Spree, it was designed to protect the town of Spandau, which is now part of Berlin. In recent years it has been used as a museum and has become a popular tourist spot.
Altstadt Spandau (Berlin U-Bahn)
Altstadt Spandau is a station in the Spandau district of Berlin, on that city's U-Bahn line U7. It takes its name from the Altstadt Spandau, the historic central area of the former independent city of Spandau. The station was opened on 1 October 1984 (architect R.G. Rümmler) with the line's extension from Rohrdamm to Rathaus Spandau. It lies between Rathaus Spandau and Zitadelle stations. The next station is Zitadelle.
Zitadelle (Berlin U-Bahn)
Zitadelle is a station on the Berlin U-Bahn line U7. It was opened on 1 October 1984 with the line's extension from Rohrdamm to Rathaus Spandau. Its name means "Citadel" in English and it was named for the historic Spandau Citadel. Unlike most u-bahn stations, Zitadelle has side platforms. The station's interiors were also designed to resemble the citadel's style. It lies between the stations Altstadt Spandau and Haselhorst. It was built/opened by R.G.

Haselhorst is a station on the Berlin U-Bahn line U7. It was opened on 1 October 1984 with the line's extension from Rohrdamm to Rathaus Spandau. Its name means "hazel eyrie" in English; it was named for the locality where it lies: Haselhorst in the borough of Spandau. It lies between the stations Zitadelle and Paulsternstraße. It was build by R.G. Rümmler, mentionable are interesting light effects on the ceiling. The next station is Paulsternstraße.
Paulsternstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)
Paulsternstraße is a station on the Berlin U-Bahn line U7. It was opened on 1 October 1984 (constructed by Rümmler), with the line's extension from Rohrdamm to Rathaus Spandau. Its name means "Paul Stern Street" in English, Paul Stern having been the name of a pub owner after whom a Spandau neighbourhood was named. The station's interiors are notable for the large and colorful mosaics which decorate almost all walls. All signs sell "Paulsternstrasse".
Rohrdamm (Berlin U-Bahn)
Rohrdamm is a station on the Berlin U-Bahn line U7 in the Siemensstadt district. It was opened on 1 October 1980 (by architect Rümmler) with the line's extension from Richard-Wagner-Platz to Rohrdamm. Until the second extension of the line from Rohrdamm to Rathaus Spandau in 1984, it was the western terminus of the U7. The name literally means "pipe dam"; as the eponymous street was laid out along a water pipe.
Siemensdamm (Berlin U-Bahn)
Siemensdamm is a station on the Berlin U-Bahn line U7, located in the Spandau district. It was opened on 1 October 1980 (designed by R.G. Rümmler) with the line's extension from Richard-Wagner-Platz to Rohrdamm. The station is named after an arterial street, which itself is named after Werner von Siemens. The company he founded, Siemens AG, has many facilities in the station's surroundings. The station is constructed as a "Multi-Purpose Facility".
Olympic Stadium (Berlin)
The Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium) is a sports stadium in Berlin, Germany. There have been two stadia on the site: the present facility, and one that is called the Deutsches Stadion which was built for the aborted 1916 Summer Olympics. Both were designed by members of the same family, the first by Otto March and the second by his son Werner March. It is the second biggest stadium in Germany behind Signal Iduna Park.

Bell Tower of Berlin Olympic Stadium
The Bell Tower of Berlin Olympic Stadium was a 77 metres high observation tower that was built in 1934 after plans by professor Werner March. The steel skeleton construction was covered with limestone plates. After the Second World War the Soviet troops accidentally set the tower's contents on fire and it was no longer stable. Therefore the British engineers blew it up in 1947.

Olympia-Stadion (Berlin U-Bahn)
Olympia-Stadion is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U2 line in the Westend district. It serves Berlin's Olympic Stadium, where football matches and other events are regularly held. The station is located around 500 m from the S-Bahn station with a similar name, Olympiastadion, whose name - without hyphen - more closely reflects that of the Olympic Stadium. The station Stadion was opened on 8 June 1913 together with the Deutsches Stadion, predecessor of the Olympic Stadium.
Ruhleben (Berlin U-Bahn)
Ruhleben is a Berlin U-Bahn station in the Westend district. It is the western terminus of the U2 line. The elevated station designed by Alfred Grenander opened on 22 December 1929. Plans to extend the U2 toward Spandau were never carried out and became obsolete after the construction of the U7 in 1984 and the re-opening of the Spandau Suburban Line of the Berlin S-Bahn in 1998.
Altstadt Spandau
Altstadt Spandau is the historic centre (the old city) of the borough (Bezirk) of Spandau in the western suburbs of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. It is one of the four zones of the locality (Ortsteil) of Spandau. The Altstadt is situated on the west bank of the River Havel by its confluence with the River Spree. It was protected from attack by the Spandau Citadel, on an island between the two rivers.
Friedhof Heerstraße
The Friedhof Heerstraße cemetery is located at Trakehnerallee 1 (Trakehner avenue No.1), district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in Berlin, Germany, beneath the Olympiastadion. It covers an area of 149,650 square meters. The cemetery was originally named and planned for the local residents of Villenkolonie Heerstraße. It was laid out between 1921-24 around the Sausuhlensee (Wild boar's lake).
Berlin-Stresow railway station
Stresow is a railway station in the Spandau district of Berlin, named after the Stresow neighbourhood east of the Havel river. It is served by the S-Bahn line S5. The station opened on December 15, 1846 at the railway line from Berlin's Hamburger Bahnhof to the city of Hamburg. Then the main station in the area, it bore the name Spandau.
Berlin Olympiastadion station
Olympiastadion is a railway station in the Westend district of Berlin. Located at the southern entrance of the Olympic Stadium, it is served by the S-Bahn line S5 are extended to the station during major events. The station consists of one island platform which is in regular use, as well as four further terminal island platforms which are only used for the extra trains during major events. The station opened in 1909 on the Westbahn suburban railway north of the Grunewald forest.

Deutsches Stadion (Berlin)
Deutsches Stadion was a multi-use stadium in Berlin, Germany. It was initially used as the stadium of German football championship matches. It was replaced by the current Olympic Stadium in 1936. The capacity of the stadium was 64,000 spectators. Located in the Grunewald Race Course was due to host the 1916 Summer Olympics that were cancelled due to World War I.
Olympiapark Schwimmstadion Berlin
Olympiapark Schwimmstadion Berlin (German: Berlin Olympic Swim Stadium) is an aquatics venue located in Berlin, Germany constructed for the 1936 Summer Olympics. Located north of the Olympic Stadium it hosted the diving, swimming, water polo, and the swimming part of the modern pentathlon events. At total of 140,231 attended during all of the competitions. The stadium's ground level was constructed 13 ft lower than the top part of the Olympic Stadium.

The Haus des Deutschen Sports (German: House of German sports), part of the larger Deutsches Sportforum, is a sporting venue constructed for the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Located northeast of the Olympic Stadium, it hosted the fencing events and the fencing part of the modern pentathlon event.
Charlotten Bridge
Charlotten Bridge (German Charlottenbrücke) in Spandau links the old town of Spandau on the west bank of the Havel with the east bank. It was one of the few bridges over which some of the German garrison of Berlin were able to escape during the night of 1 May 1945 just hours before the city fell to Soviet forces.
Hakenfelde Prison
Hakenfelde Prison (German: Justizvollzugsanstalt Hakenfelde, JVA Hakenfelde) is a low-security prison in Hakenfelde in Berlin, operated by the State of Berlin Department of Corrections. It was opened on 1 March 1978 in then West Berlin, and was originally a branch of Düppel Prison. It became an independent correctional institution in 1991. Between 1995 and 1998, its old barracks were replaced by a modern prison building. It has a capacity of 908 prisoners.
2013 Berlin helicopter crash
On 21 March 2013 around 10:30 CET, two helicopters of the German Federal Police collided in front of the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Amid a large-scale training exercise, one helicopter apparently had landed on top of the other in snowy weather. The accident left one pilot dead and injured several other persons.
