Ich bin ein Berliner
"Ich bin ein Berliner" ("I am a Berliner") is a quotation from a June 26, 1963, speech by U.S. President John F. Kennedy in West Berlin. He was underlining the support of the United States for West Germany 22 months after the Soviet-supported East Germany erected the Berlin Wall as a barrier to prevent movement between East and West. The message was aimed as much at the Soviets as it was at Berliners, and was a clear statement of U.S. policy in the wake of the construction of the Berlin Wall.
John-F.-Kennedy-Platz
John-F. -Kennedy-Platz (John F. Kennedy Square), formerly Rudolph-Wilde-Platz, in Berlin-Schöneberg is the square in front of the former city hall of West Berlin. It was here that US President John F. Kennedy gave his famous speech to the Berliners, in which he stated: "Ich bin ein Berliner". The square was renamed John-F. -Kennedy-Platz on 25 November 1963, three days after Kennedy's assassination. A large plaque dedicated to Kennedy is mounted on a column at the entrance to the city hall.
Rathaus Schöneberg
Rathaus Schöneberg is the city hall for the borough of Tempelhof-Schöneberg in Berlin. From 1949 until 1993 it served as the seat of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin and until 1991 also as the office of the Governing Mayor.
1986 Berlin discotheque bombing
The 1986 Berlin discotheque bombing was a terrorist attack on the La Belle discothèque in West Berlin, Germany, an entertainment venue that was commonly frequented by United States soldiers. A bomb placed under a table near the disk jockey's booth exploded at 1:45 am CET on April 5, 1986, killing three people and injuring around 230 people, including 79 American servicemen. Viktoria-Luise-Platz
Viktoria-Luise-Platz is an hexagonal place on Motzstraße in Schöneberg, Berlin. It was laid out in 1900. It is named after Princess Viktoria Luise of Prussia 1892 - 1980, the daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, and Great-Grand daughter of Queen Victoria.
Motzstraße
Motzstraße is a street in Schöneberg, Berlin which now runs from Nollendorfplatz via Viktoria-Luise-Platz to Prager Platz. Named after Adolf von Motz a Prussian Finance Minister, it was laid out around 1870. One part of Motzstraße (the section north of Nollendorfplatz) has been renamed twice, firstly to Mackensenstraße and in 1996 to Else Lasker-Schüler Straße.
Rundfunk im amerikanischen Sektor
RIAS (German: Rundfunk im amerikanischen Sektor; English: Broadcasting in the American Sector) was a radio and television station in the American Sector of Berlin during the Cold War. It was founded by the US occupational authorities after World War II in 1946 to provide the German population in and around Berlin with news and political reporting and for its first seven months was distributed (as DIAS – Drahtfunk im amerikanischen Sektor) via wired relay only.
Nollendorfplatz (Berlin U-Bahn)
Nollendorfplatz is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U1, the U2, the U3, and the U4. It opened in 1902 and today is the only station in Berlin that is served by four metro lines.
Berlin Sportpalast
The Berliner Sportpalast (built 1910, demolished 1973) was a multi-purpose winter sport venue and meeting hall in the Schöneberg section of Berlin. Depending on the type of event and seating configuration, the Sportpalast could hold up to 14,000 people and was for a time the biggest meeting hall in the German capital. The Sportpalast is most known for speeches and rallies that took place during the Third Reich, particularly Joseph Goebbels' 1943 "Total War" speech.
Rote Insel
Rote Insel (literally, Red Island) is the name colloquially given to a neighborhood in the Schöneberg district of the German capital, Berlin. As such, the Island is part of Berlin's 7th administrative borough, Tempelhof-Schöneberg.
Nollendorfplatz
Nollendorfplatz is a square in the Schöneberg district of Berlin. Colloquially called Nolli it was named in 1864 after the village of Nakléřov (today part of Petrovice, Czech Republic), a site of the 1813 Battle of Kulm. It is shaped by the U-Bahn viaduct and the facade of the Neues Schauspielhaus. The adjacent area in the south around Motzstraße is Berlin's most prominent gay village. It has a long history as being a gay area which dates back to the turn of the 20th century.
Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe
The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (German for Berlin Transport Company) is the main public transport company of Berlin, the capital city of Germany. It manages the city's U-Bahn underground railway, tram, bus and ferry networks, but not the S-Bahn urban rail system. The generally-used abbreviation, BVG, has been retained from the company's original name, Berliner Verkehrs Aktiengesellschaft (Berlin Transport Corporation). Subsequently the company was renamed Berliner Verkehrs-Betriebe.
Viktoria-Luise-Platz (Berlin U-Bahn)
Viktoria-Luise-Platz is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U4. 1910 Schöneberg, a part of Berlin, built its own subway line the U4. This station was built by E. Deneke and consists of green and white tiles on the walls and green columns. The place and subway station is under preservation order.
Rathaus Schöneberg (Berlin U-Bahn)
Rathaus Schöneberg is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U4. Opened in 1910 as station "Stadtpark", designed by J.E. Schaudt. From 1940 to 1951 it was closed due to severe damage during the war. It was reopened with the current name.
Berlin Innsbrucker Platz station
Berlin Innsbrucker Platz is a railway station in the Schöneberg district of Berlin and located on the square of the same name. It is served by the Ringbahn lines S41, S42, S45 and S46 of the Berlin S-Bahn, as well as by the U-Bahn line U4. The U-Bahn station opened in 1910 with the original name Hauptstraße after the section of the Reichsstraße 1 running through the districts of Schöneberg and Friedenau.
Bayerischer Platz (Berlin U-Bahn)
Bayerischer Platz is a Berlin U-Bahn station on the U4 and the U7. The station is located under the square of the same name in the centre of the Bayerisches Viertel neighbourhood in Schöneberg. The U4 station opened with the rest of that line on 1 December 1910 and is now a protected historic landmark; the U7 part of the station opened on 29 January 1971.
Deutschlandradio Kultur
Deutschlandradio Kultur (abbreviated to DLR Kultur or DKultur) is the culture-oriented radio station of the German national Deutschlandradio service. From 1994 to March 2005 the station was known as "DeutschlandRadio Berlin". Studio facilities are based in the former RIAS building at Hans-Rosenthal-Platz in Schöneberg, Berlin.
Eisenacher Straße (Berlin U-Bahn)
Eisenacher Straße is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U7. R.G. Rümmler constructed this station which was opened 1971. The wall is covered with green asbestos cement panels. As Eisenach is a city nearby the forest in Thuringia which is called the green heart of Germany, Rümmler chose green as the color of this station. The next station is Kleistpark.

Kleistpark is a Berlin U-Bahn station on the U7 line. The station was designed by the architect Rümmler, opened in 1971 (1971), and is located near the head office of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (Berlin Transport Company). The following station is Yorckstraße.

Berlin-Friedenau is a railway station in Berlin, Germany. Though it is named after the nearby Friedenau locality, the station officially is located in the southern area of the Schöneberg district. It was opened in 1891 with the Wannseebahn rapid transit railway. Today it is served by the S1 line of the Berlin S-Bahn.
Berlin School of Economics and Law
The Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) is an institution founded on 1 April 2009 through the merger of the Berlin School of Economics (BSE) and the FHVR Berlin, a university of applied sciences for administration and law. The BSEL portfolio provides a wide range of professional qualifications. The University of Applied Sciences forms an academic centre specialised in business and administration skills for the public and private sector, as well as public security, the law and engineering.
Neues Schauspielhaus
The Neues Schauspielhaus (English: New Theatre) on Nollendorfplatz in the Schöneberg district of Berlin was built in 1905 as a theatre and concert hall in the then-fashionable Art Nouveau style. From 1911 it also included a cinema. From the beginning of World War I the theatre turned into an operetta stage until in 1927, Erwin Piscator and Tilla Durieux opened their Theater am Nollendorfplatz in the building.
Berlin Julius-Leber-Brücke station
Julius-Leber-Brücke is a railway station in the Schöneberg district of Berlin. Located under a bridge named after Resistance fighter Julius Leber, it was officially opened on 2 May 2008 and is served by the S-Bahn line S1.
Kammergericht
The Kammergericht (KG) is the Oberlandesgericht for the state of Berlin. Its name differs from Germany's other state courts for historic reasons. There are no other courts called Kammergericht in Germany.
