Messel pit
The Messel Pit is a disused quarry near the village of Messel, about 35 km southeast of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Bituminous shale was mined there. Because of its abundance of fossils, it has significant geological and scientific importance. After almost becoming a landfill, strong local resistance eventually stopped these plans and the Messel Pit was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site on 9 December 1995.

Waldspirale
The Waldspirale is a residential building complex in Darmstadt, Germany, built in the 1990s. The name translates into English as forest spiral, reflecting both the general plan of the building and the fact that it has a green roof. It was designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, planned and implemented by architect Heinz M. Springmann, and constructed by the Bauverein Darmstadt company. The building was completed in 2000.

Darmstadt Central Station (Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof) is the railway station of the German city Darmstadt. After Frankfurt Hbf and Wiesbaden Hbf, it is the third largest station in the state of Hesse. It is the second busiest station (after Frankfurt Hbf) in Hesse, servicing 35,000 passengers and 220 trains per day. Built in a late art nouveau style, the station was finished 1912 as one of the major works of architect Friedrich Pützer.

Darmstadt-Kranichstein Railway Museum
The Darmstadt-Kranichstein Railway Museum (Eisenbahnmuseum Darmstadt-Kranichstein) a railway museum in the German city of Darmstadt. It is also the largest railway museum in the state of Hesse. The former railway depot (Bahnbetriebswerk or BW) includes a locomotive shed, turntable, coal bunkers and other locomotive facilities. There is also an adjoining repair shop (Ausbesserungswerk), where major repairs can be carried out.
Schloß Wolfsgarten
Schloß Wolfsgarten is a former hunting seat of the ruling family of Hesse-Darmstadt, located in the German state of Hessen, approximately 15 kilometers south of Frankfurt am Main. The hunting lodge was established between 1722 and 1724 by Landgrave Ernst Ludwig of Hesse-Darmstadt. Ernst Ludwig's purpose in establishing Wolfsgarten was to pursue his passion for hunting with dogs which he introduced into Hesse in 1709.

The Botanischer Garten der TU Darmstadt (4.5 hectares), also known as the Botanischer Garten Darmstadt, is a botanical garden maintained by the Darmstadt University of Technology. It is located at Schnittspahnstrasse 1 - 5, Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany, and open daily without charge. The garden dates to 1814 when Johannes Hess (1786-1837) proposed creating a botanical garden on newly acquired ground in front of castle Darmstädter.

Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary
The Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary is an ecumenical, Lutheran based, religious order. It was founded by sister Basilea Schlink a German theologian and intellectual who on March 30, 1947, with Erika Madauss founded The Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary in Darmstadt. In 1948 both the founders and the first seven sisters became nuns. From then on, Dr. Klara Schlink called herself Mutter Basilea and Erika Madaus adopted the name of Mutter Martyria.

The Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) is a planned international accelerator facility using antiprotons and ions situated outside Darmstadt in Germany. From 2018 onwards FAIR will provide unique opportunities for cutting-edge research in: nuclear, and particle physics, atomic and anti-matter physics, high density plasma physics, and applications in condensed matter physics, biology and the bio-medical sciences.

Darmstadt Nord station
Darmstadt Nord (north) station is a junction station the city of Darmstadt in the German state of Hesse. The passenger station, which is served by trains of the Odenwald Railway and the Rhine-Main Railway (Rhine-Main-Bahn), has four platform tracks. Running parallel and north of the station are two additional tracks for freight traffic.
