Eibsee Cable Car
The Eibsee Cable Car, which opened in 1963, is a cable car which connects the lower station near lake Eibsee with the top station at 2,950 metres above sea level next to the summit of Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain on the border to Austria. The cable car was built to provide a faster access to the Zugspitze from its German side, as the cog railway from Garmisch-Partenkirchen does not go directly to the summit and takes much longer.
Eibsee
Eibsee is a lake in Bavaria, Germany, 9 km southwest of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and roughly 100 km southwest of Munich. At an elevation of 973.28 m, its surface area is 177.4 ha. Eibsee lies at the base of the Zugspitze (2950 meters above sea level), Germany's highest mountain. As of May 2010, trains from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen leave roughly once an hour and the trip takes about an hour and a half. Buses travel regularly from the train station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Eibsee.

Jubiläumsgrat
The Jubiläumsgrat ("Jubilee Arête") or Jubiläumsweg ("Jubilee Way"), also nicknamed Jubi in climbing circles, is the name given to the climbing route along the arête between the Zugspitze (2,962 m) and the Hochblassen (2,706 m) (hence it is also called the Blassenkamm which means "Blassen Crest"). In front of its northwestern end, at the wind gap known as Falsche Grießkarscharte, climbers normally cross over to the Alpspitze (2,628 m) or down to the Matheisen cirque.
Schneeferner
The Schneeferner in the Bavarian Alps is Germany's highest and largest glacier. It is located on the Zugspitzplatt, a plateau south of the country's highest peak, the Zugspitze, that descends from west to east and forms the head of the Reintal valley. The meltwaters from the glacier seep away into the karstified plateau and surface again in the Reintal, where they feed the River Partnach. The Schneeferner is one of the northernmost glaciers in the Alps.
Höllentalferner
The Höllentalferner is a glacier in the western Wetterstein Mountains. It is a cirque glacier that covers the upper part of the Höllental valley and its location in a rocky bowl between the Riffelwandspitzen and Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze, means that it is well-protected from direct sunshine. With an area of 24.7 hectares (as of 2006) it is almost as big as the nearby Northern Schneeferner, the largest glacier in Germany. It is about 1 kilometre long and up to 700 metres wide.
Schneefernerhaus
The Schneefernerhaus is a former hotel in the Alps, that is now used as an environmental research station. It lies immediately below the summit of the Zugspitze at a height of 2,650 m and was opened on 20 June 1931. It used to house the top station of the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway as well as a tourist hotel. There was then a cable car from the Schneefernerhaus to the Zugspitze summit.
Zugspitze Glacier Cable Car
The Zugspitze Glacier Cable Car is a 1,000 metre long cable car on the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. It was opened in 1992 and links the plateau of the Zugspitzplatt directly with the summit, 360 metres higher.
