Überholung Karlsruhe-Graben Neudorf
Hier war ich als RE 4 auf der Fahrt von Karlsruhe nach Mainz und fuhr im GWB von Karlsruhe nach Graben-Neudorf um einen mit Kohle beladenen Güterzug zu überholen.

Karlsruhe is one of the four administrative regions of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, located in the north-west of the state. It is subdivided into the three regional associations (Regionalverband): Mittlerer Oberrhein, Rhein-Neckar and Nordschwarzwald.
Karlsruhe (district)
Karlsruhe is a rural district (Landkreis) in the north-west of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) Rhein-Neckar, Heilbronn, Enz, Calw, Rastatt, Germersheim, Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis and the district-free city Speyer. The urban district Karlsruhe (Stadtkreis Karlsruhe), which contains the City of Karlsruhe, is located in the middle of the district, and partially cuts it into a northern and a southern part.
Wöschbach
Wöschbach is a village in the municipality of Pfinztal, in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is pne of the four villages in the municipality and has about 3,000 inhabitants. Wöschbach was first mentioned during the 13th century. During the 30-year War the village lost its entire population. After World War II 400 refugees were sent to live in Wöschbach.

Forschungsreaktor 2 (FR2)
Forschungsreaktor 2 (FR2) (Research Reactor 2) was the first nuclear reactor built in and by Germany after restrictions on nuclear research imposed as a result of the Second World War were lifted in 1955. Construction began in 1957 in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen/BW. The organization charged with the project evolved into the Kernforschungszentrum Karlsruhe (KfK) (Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre), which in turn evolved into the present day Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
LOPES (telescope)
The LOPES project is a cosmic ray detector array, located in Karlsruhe, Germany, and is operated in coincidence with an existing, well calibrated air shower experiment called KASCADE. There are different ways to observe cosmic rays, or, more accurately, the air showers that cosmic rays produce when they enter our atmosphere. Traditionally, one directly measures the shower products that make it all the way to the surface. These may be detected by using for example particle counters.
Hardtwald
The Hardtwald is a forest in Baden-Württemberg, south-western Germany. It is located around Karlsruhe, on the right (eastern) bank of the Rhine, between Schwetzingen in the north and Rastatt in the south. The Black Forest is located to its east. In the 18th century, Karlsruhe was founded in the Hardtwald.
Paulusheim
St. Paulusheim is an independent Gymnasium in Bruchsal, Germany with sponsorship of the school foundation of the archdiocese of Freiburg. It was founded by the Pallottines, originally as a boys' boarding school. Paulusheim is rooted in a boarding school of the small Italian community of Masio near Alessandria. In 1915, Pallottines had to leave Masio because of the war. So they came to Bruchsal, the former homeland of the headteacher.

Bruchsal was a district (Kreis) in the administrative district of Nordbaden in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. To the County belonged 5 cities and 33 towns. The city of Bruchsal was the seat of the county and the license plate code was BR. Bruchsal County was dissolved as a result of the district reform effective January 1, 1973 when it was merged into the County of Karlsruhe.
Pfinz
The Pfinz is a right tributary of the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg. Its origin is located at the northern edge of the Black Forest near the Straubenhardt borough of Pfinzweiler. Near Durlach it enters the Upper Rhine Plain and continues, splitting into several beds and canals, in northwesterly direction through several towns and villages north of Karlsruhe for example Staffort. The Pfinz discharges into the Rhine near Dettenheim-Rußheim.
Turmberg
The Turmberg is a hill located in Durlach, a suburb of Karlsruhe in Germany. It is home to a castle ruin. The Turmberg can be reached by the Turmbergbahn, a funicular railway. Staffort is an old German village between Karlsruhe and Bruchsal - since 1975 the village is part of the town Stutensee which was created by joining together with Blankenloch, Friedrichstal and Spöck. Stutensee-Staffort has roughly 2000 inhabitants (2011).
Turmbergbahn
The Turmbergbahn is a funicular railway in Karlsruhe in Germany. From Karlsruhe's former center Durlach, the line climbs the Turmberg, which on a clear day provides a lookout point with views of the River Rhine valley, the Palatinate forest and the adjacent parts of Alsace. The line first opened in 1888 by the Turmbergbahn Durlach AG, and its original form used the water ballast system of propulsion, similar to that still used by the Nerobergbahn in Wiesbaden.
KASCADE
KASCADE is a European physics experiment started in 1996 at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, Germany, an extensive air shower experiment array to study the cosmic ray primary composition and the hadronic interactions in the energy range of 10–10 eV, measuring simultaneously the electronic, muonic and hadronic components.
Michelsberg culture
The Michelsberg culture (German: Michelsberger Kultur) is an important Neolithic culture in Central Europe. Its dates are ca 4400-3500 BC. Its conventional name is derived from that of an important excavated site on Michelsberg (or Michaelsberg) hill near Untergrombach, between Karlsruhe and Heidelberg. The Michelsberg culture is dated in the late 5th and the first half of the 4th millennium BC. Thus, it belongs to the Central European Late Neolithic.
Siege of Philippsburg (1734)
The Siege of Philippsburg was conducted by French forces against forces in the fortress of Philippsburg in the Rhine River valley during the War of the Polish Succession. The Duke of Berwick led 100,000 men up the Rhine Valley in opposition to Austrian forces, of which 60,000 were detached to invest the fortress at Philippsburg, beginning on 1 June 1734. A relief column of 35,000 under the aging Prince Eugene of Savoy was unsuccessful in actually relieving the siege.
European School, Karlsruhe
The European School in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, is one of three official European Schools in Germany. It was the fifth of fourteen such schools to be established in Europe since 1953. The school currently has around one thousand students on role across the Kindergarten, Primary School and Secondary School (see External links). The school has offered the European Baccalaureate since 1968.

Accident on the Bundesautobahn 5
The Accident on the Bundesautobahn 5 occurred on July 14, 2003 close to Karlsruhe, Germany, when a young mother lost control of her car and collided with a tree. The 21-year-old woman and her two-year old daughter died at the scene. The accident and the following judicial proceeding received nationwide attention due to the fact that eyewitnesses stated, another vehicle had closed the gap to her from behind with excessive speed and caused the accident.
Graben-Neudorf station
Graben-Neudorf station is the focal point of the town of Graben-Neudorf in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is of particular importance for rail transport because it is a railway junction, which is crossed by the Rhine Railway between Mannheim and Karlsruhe, connecting to the Rhine Valley Railway to Basle, and the Bruhrain Railway (Bruhrainbahn) between Bruchsal and Germersheim. In addition, the strategic railway opened in 1895 to Karlsruhe branched off the original Rhine Railway here.
