French Polynesia
French Polynesia is an overseas country (pays d'outre-mer) of the French Republic. It is made up of several groups of Polynesian islands, the most famous island being Tahiti in the Society Islands group, which is also the most populous island and the seat of the capital of the territory. Although not an integral part of its territory, Clipperton Island was administered from French Polynesia until 2007.

Notre Dame Cathedral (French: Cathédrale de Papeete Notre-Dame de L'Immaculée Conception) is a late 19th century church that serves as the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Papeete. It is located close to the waterfront esplanade of the the capital city on the rue du Général de Gaulle. The construction of the cathedral began in the middle of the 19th century and it opened in 1875.
Moorea Airport
Moorea Airport (French: Aéroport de Moorea) is an airport serving the island of Moorea in French Polynesia. It is also known as Temae Airport or Moorea Temae Airport for its location near the village of Temae in northeastern Moorea. The airport is located 7.5 km northeast of Afareitu, the island's main village. It is also 15 km west of the island of Tahiti. The airport opened on October 6, 1967.
Air Moorea Flight 1121
On 9 August 2007, Air Moorea Flight 1121, operated on an Air Moorea de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter airplane, crashed shortly after taking off from Temae Airport on Moorea island in French Polynesia; the plane was bound for Tahiti's Faa'a International Airport. According to the official report by Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses pour la sécurité de l'Aviation Civile, all 20 occupants, 19 passengers and one crew member, died. Two of the passengers were European Union officials.
Pan Am Flight 816
Flight PA 816 was an international flight from Auckland, New Zealand, to Los Angeles, United States, via Tahiti, French Polynesia. It was operated by a Pan Am Boeing 707-321B bearing the registration N417PA and named Clipper Winged Racer. On July 22, 1973, at 10:06 P.M. local time, the Boeing 707 took off from Faa'a International Airport in Papeete. Thirty seconds after takeoff, the airliner carrying 79 passengers and crew crashed into the sea.
Musée de Tahiti et des Îles
The Musée de Tahiti et des Îles ("Museum of Tahiti and the Islands"), Tahitian Te Fare Manaha, is a Polynesian ethnographic museum in the village of Punaauia on Tahiti. The museum was founded in 1974 to conserve and restore Polynesian artifacts and cultural practices. It has signed cooperation agreements with the Musée du quai Branly, which has greater resources for staging public expositions.
Bombardment of Papeete
The Bombardment of Papeete occurred in French Polynesia when German warships attacked on 22 September 1914, during World War I. The German armoured cruisers SMS Scharnhorst and Gneisenau entered the port of Papeete on the island of Tahiti and sank the French gunboat Zélée and freighter Walkure before bombarding the town's fortifications. French shore batteries and a gunboat resisted the German intrusion, but were greatly outgunned.

Stade Hamuta is a multi-use stadium in Papeete, Tahiti, in French Polynesia. It is currently used mostly for football matches and hosts the home matches of AS Manu-Ura of the Tahiti Division Fédérale. The stadium holds 10,000 spectators.
