Unité d'Habitation
The Unité d'Habitation is the name of a modernist residential housing design principle developed by Le Corbusier, with the collaboration of painter-architect Nadir Afonso. Baumettes Prison
Baumettes prison (also known as the Centre pénitentiaire de Marseille) is a prison in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille. The prison is named after the district of Les Baumettes where it was constructed between 1933 and 1939. This area was outside the city but has been absorbed as the city expanded. The prison covers some 30,000 m² and contains 1,380 cells housing approximately 1,700 prisoners, mostly men, around a quarter of whom are not French.
