Nice Observatory
The Observatoire de Nice (Nice Observatory) is an astronomical observatory located in Nice, France on the summit of Mont Gros. The observatory was founded in 1879 by the banker Raphaël Bischoffsheim. The architect was Charles Garnier, and Gustave Eiffel designed the main dome. The 77 cm (30.3 inch) refractor telescope made by Henry and Gautier became operational around 1886–1887, was the largest in a privately funded observatory, and the first at such high altitude (325 m above sea level).

Cimiez
Cimiez is a neighborhood in Nice, southern France. The area contains the Musée Matisse and the ruins of Cemenelum, capital of the Ancient Roman province Alpes Maritimae on the Ligurian coast. Cemenelum was an important rival of Nice, continuing to exist as a separate city till the time of the Lombard invasions. The ruins include an arena, amphitheatre, thermal baths, and paleochristian basilica.

Terra Amata (archaeological site)
Terra Amata is an archeological site in open air located on the slopes of Mount Boron in Nice, at a level 26 meters above the current sea level of the Mediterranean. It was discovered and excavated in 1966 by Henry de Lumley. The site, originally on a prehistoric beach, contained tools of the lower Paleolithic period, dated to about 400,000 BC, as well as traces of some of the earliest domestication of fire in Europe.
Stade du Ray
Stade Municipal du Ray is a football stadium in Nice, France. It is the home of OGC Nice and has a capacity of 18,696. It is popular for being located in the center of the city, but suffers from its old structure and small capacity. The red and black colored stadium is mostly used for football. A new stadium was supposed to be built in the Lingostière side, but the project was cancelled in 2006. The stadium will be replaced by the Allianz Riviera, when it opens in 2013.

Nice Cathedral
Nice Cathedral (French: Basilique-Cathédrale Sainte-Marie et Sainte-Réparate de Nice) is the cathedral of the Diocese of Nice and is located in the old town of Nice in the south of France. It was built between 1650 and 1699, the year of its consecration. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Reparata. It has been classed as a monument historique since 9 August 1906.
Gare de Nice CP
Gare de Nice CP is a small railway station in Nice, France. The station has been the terminus of a narrow-gauge Chemins de Fer de Provence from Digne-les-Bains since December 1991. It is the replacement station of Gare du Sud built in 1890. The old station's state as well as municipal plans meant that repairs were not profitable and the station was bought by the council.
Paillon
The Paillon is a coastal river of the Alpes-Maritimes that flows into the Mediterranean Sea in Nice, near the old district. Its source is north of Lucéram. It flows generally south, through L'Escarène, Peillon, Drap (where it meets its main tributary Paillon de Contes), La Trinité, and finally Nice. The region of the Paillon and the Paillon de Contes is called pays des Paillons.
Siege of Nice
The Siege of Nice occurred in 1543 and was part of the Italian War of 1542–46 in which Francis I and Suleiman the Magnificent collaborated in a Franco-Ottoman alliance against the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, and Henry VIII of England. At that time, Nice was under the control of Charles III, Duke of Savoy, an ally of Charles V. This is part of the 1543-1544 Mediterranean campaign of Barbarossa.

The basilica, built between 1864 and 1868, was designed by Louis Lenormand and is the largest church in Nice, but is not the cathedral. Inspired by Angers Cathedral, it is built in the Gothic style.
Cimiez Cathedral
Cimiez Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Sainte-Marie de Cimiez, also Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Château), was the former Roman Catholic cathedral of Nice in the south of France, sited on the hill of the castle overlooking the city. The bishop's seat was transferred to the present Nice Cathedral in 1590 and the former cathedral was demolished in 1706 after suffering damage in the Siege of Nice of 1691. Only ruins remain.
