Île de Ré
Île de Ré (formerly also Île de Rhé, Île de Rhéa or Île de Rhea - in English Isle of Rhé) is an island off the west coast of France near La Rochelle, on the northern side of the Pertuis d'Antioche strait. The island highest point has an elevation of 20 m; the island is 30 km long and 5 km wide. A 2.9 km bridge, completed in 1988, connects it to La Rochelle on the mainland.
Pertuis d'Antioche
The Pertuis d'Antioche ("Passage of Antioch") is a strait on the Atlantic coast of Western France, between two islands, Île de Ré and Île d'Oléron, on the one side, and on the other side the continental coast between the cities of La Rochelle and the naval arsenal of Rochefort.
Basque Roads
Basque Roads is a sheltered bay on the Biscay shore of the Charente-Maritime département of France, bounded by the Île d'Oléron to the west and the Île de Ré to the north. The port of La Rochelle stands at the northeast corner of the roads, and the town of Rochefort is near the mouth of the Charente River to the south. It is most famous as the site of the British naval victory over a French fleet at the 1809 Battle of Basque Roads.
Les Minimes
Les Minimes, Port de plaisance des Minimes, is the largest marina in France for pleasure boats. It is located in the city of La Rochelle. Its named is derived from the establishment of a convent of the Frères Minimes ("Order of the Minimes Brothers") in this area during the Middle Ages. There are slips for about 3,500 boats. The whole area has seen intense urban development, with the construction of many residential buildings.
Gare de La Rochelle
Gare de La Rochelle is the main railway station serving La Rochelle. The station building, which includes a 45-metre-tall clock tower, was built in 1922 by Pierre Esquié for the CF de l'Etat replacing the older building. The station was renovated by Franck Beck and Luc Mouret in the early 1990s for the arrival of the TGV Atlantique. La Rochelle is linked to Poitiers, Tours, Bordeaux and Paris as well as regional services to other towns in Poitou-Charentes, such as Angoulême and Niort.

La Rochelle – Île de Ré Airport is an airport located 2.5 km northwest of La Rochelle, a commune of the département of Charente-Maritime in France. The airport also serves Île de Ré, which is accessible via a bridge from La Rochelle.

La Rochelle Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Louis de la Rochelle) is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and a national monument of France since 1906, located in the town of La Rochelle.
La Pallice
La Pallice (also known as grand port maritime de La Rochelle) is the industrial harbour of the city of La Rochelle, France. It is a commercial harbour in deep water, named after the French philosopher La Pallice. The large submarine base built during World War II still stands there, although it is not being used. La Pallice is equipped with oil unloading equipment, and mainly handles tropical wood.
University of La Rochelle
The University of La Rochelle (Université de La Rochelle) is a French university, based in La Rochelle. It is under the Academy of Poitiers. The university was founded in 1993, and is the youngest university in France. The first stone was laid by François Mitterrand and Helmut Kohl. It attempts to stand out by offering innovative courses in business law and the Asian-Pacific world. At the start of the year 2000 there were 6000 students.
Ernest Cognacq Museum
The Ernest Cognacq Museum is a French regional history museum, located in the city of Saint Martin de Ré, Ile de Ré, France. The museum is housed in the “Hotel de Clerjotte”, built in 1470-1480 by Louis Clergeat, taxman for Charles de France, Duke of Guyenne, and master of Ile de Ré. Clergeat seems to have given his name to the building (the “House of Clergeatte”) to become “Hotel de Clerjotte” today.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of La Rochelle and Saintes (Dioecesis Rupellensis-Santonensis) is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic church, in France. The diocese comprises the département of Charente-Maritime. Suffragan to the archdiocese of Bordeaux, the episcopal see is La Rochelle Cathedral. Saintes Cathedral is Co-Cathedral of the diocese. The diocese of Maillezais was transferred on 7 May 1648, to La Rochelle.
Pointe du Grouin du Cou lighthouse
The Pointe du Grouin du Cou lighthouse (sometimes called the La Tranche-sur-Mer lighthouse) is a French lighthouse, located on the eponymous point in the southern part of the Vendée department; it guards the entrance to the Pertuis Breton on the Île de Ré, on the west side of La Tranche-sur-Mer. The lighthouse, constructed in 1953 to a design by Maurice Durand, replaces an earlier tower that was destroyed by retreating German troops during World War II.

The Jardin des plantes de La Rochelle is a small botanical garden located behind the natural history museum at 28 rue Albert Ier, La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, Poitou-Charentes, France. It is open daily without charge. The garden was formerly owned by the Jesuits. In 1808 it became a municipal botanical garden as extension of the former Hôtel Jouin de la Tremblaye, but was quickly turned into a park.

Vauclair castle
Vauclair castle, also Vauclerc castle was a castle built in La Rochelle, by Henry II of England in the 12th century. The castle was located in the area defined by the current Place de Verdun (formally called Place du Chateau). It was incorporated in the fortifications of the city built by William X of Aquitaine, father of Alienor of Aquitaine, in 1130. The castle consisted in four large towers connected by high walls.
Orbigny-Bernon Museum
The Orbigny-Bernon Museum is a history museum in the French city of La Rochelle. It was founded in 1917, and contains collections relating to the history of La Rochelle, as well as an important collection of porcelains of the city. A floor is also dedicated to Far Eastern art, with the collection of the French diplomat Baron Charles de Chassiron.

The Muséum d'histoire naturelle de La Rochelle is a natural history museum in the city of La Rochelle, France. The museum, reopened after a major renovation in 2007, displays about 10,000 artifacts from naturalists and ethnographers since the 18th century.
Stade Marcel-Deflandre
Stade Marcel-Deflandre is a sports stadium in La Rochelle, France. It is the home ground of rugby union team Atlantique Stade Rochelais of the Top 14 who have played there since it was opened in 1926. It has undergone significant redevelopment since 1995 and the present capacity is 12,500. The stadium is named after Marcel Deflandre, a president of the club who was executed in 1944 during the Second World War.
École supérieure de commerce de la rochelle
