Otaniemi
Otaniemi, or Otnäs, is a district of Espoo, Finland. It is located near the border of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Otaniemi is the home of the Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) campus; "Otaniemi" is often used as a synonym for TKK. However, several research and business facilities are also located in Otaniemi.
Helsinki University of Technology
The Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) was a technical university in Finland. It was located in Otaniemi, Espoo in the metropolitan area of Greater Helsinki. The university was founded in 1849 by Grand Duke Nicholas I and received university status in 1908. It moved from Helsinki to Otaniemi campus area in 1966. It was merged into Aalto University in 2010 and briefly had the name Aalto University School of Science and Technology before being split into four schools in 2011.
Fortum head office
The Fortum head office is a high-rise office building located in Espoo, just outside Helsinki, the capital of Finland. With a height of 84 metres (274 feet), it is currently the second tallest habitable building in Finland. The building houses the head office of Fortum, an energy company owned primarily by the Finnish state. It was constructed between 1973 and 1978, while Uolevi Raade was the manager of Neste, which merged and later demerged with Imatran Voima, the predecessor of Fortum.
Keilaniemi
Keilaniemi is a district in the south-eastern part of Espoo, Finland. Keilaniemi is bordered by the university district of Otaniemi to the north, the commercial/residential district of Tapiola to the west, the Keilalahti bay separating Espoo and Helsinki to the east, and the Gulf of Finland to the south. The distance from Keilaniemi to the centre of Helsinki along the Länsiväylä highway is about 8 km.
Koivusaari
Koivusaari is an island and a district of Helsinki, Finland. Koivusaari is the westernmost district of the entire southern part of Helsinki. Directly west from it is a bridge across the Keilalahti bay, crossing the municipality border to Espoo, after which comes Keilaniemi, the easternmost district of southern Espoo. Koivusaari metro station will be a Helsinki Metro station when the Länsimetro extension is implemented, most probably in early 2013.
Nokia head office
The Nokia head office is the head office building of Nokia Corporation, located in Keilaniemi, Espoo, just outside Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The building itself is named The Nokia House. The two most southern parts of the building were built in the early 1990s and the third most northern part was built in 2000. Nokia's former CEO Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo and Chairman Jorma Ollila have their offices in the most southern building. A few thousand Nokia employees work in the premises.
Teknologföreningen
Teknologföreningen is the only student nation at the Aalto University. The only other university in Finland hosting nations is the University of Helsinki. The Aalto University was formed in 2010 by a merger of three universities, before the merger Teknologföreningen was a student corporation of the Helsinki University of Technology. Therefore the majority of the members are students of engineering or architecture. Teknologföreningen was founded in 1872.
