Spårakoff
Spårakoff is a HM V type tram converted into a bar in Helsinki, Finland. Known as the pub tram, the bright red vehicle does circular tours of Helsinki picking up passengers for an additional fee during summer months. Claimed to be the only one of its kind in the world, the pub tram is immediately distinguishable in the Helsinki traffic by its vivid red colour and PUB destination board. Normal trams operated on the Helsinki tram network by Helsinki City Transport are green and cream.
Freemason's Grave
The Freemason's Grave, Helsinki, Finland, is a grave monument north west of the Kaisaniemi Botanical Gardens, on a grassy knoll. It commemorates a notable artillery officer from the Suomenlinna fortress, who later moved to the mainland Helsinki proper, gaining great repute as a philanthropist.
Kaisaniemi metro station
Kaisaniemi or Kajsaniemi is a station on the Helsinki Metro. It serves the central Helsinki district of Kaisaniemi. It is the only station whose name is announced in only one language: whether this is Finnish or Swedish is unknown and irrelevant, because the Finnish 'Kaisaniemi' and the Swedish 'Kajsaniemi' are pronounced identically. When the station was opened the announcement was for a while in two languages like on the other stations, 'Kaisaniemi - Kajsaniemi'.
Tuska Open Air Metal Festival
Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, commonly shortened to Tuska, is the largest music festival dedicated only to metal and related styles of music in the Nordic countries. The history of Tuska began in 1998 and it has grown larger every year. The location of the festival has been in Kaisaniemi park in the middle of Helsinki, Finland from 2001. However, Tuska 2011 will take place at the Suvilahti event field in Sörnäinen, Helsinki. The festival dates have been during the months of June or July.
Caisa
Caisa is an International Cultural Centre in the centre of Helsinki, Finland. Located in Kaisaniemi in the city centre, it aims to support the multicultural development of the city by promoting the interaction of people from different countries, and by providing information about various cultures and about Finnish society. The director of Caisa is Leena Pellilä.
Rautatientori
Rautatientori (Finnish for "Railway Square", Swedish: Järnvägstorget) is an open square in central Helsinki, immediately to the east of the Helsinki Central railway station. The square mostly serves as Helsinki's secondary bus station (the primary one being at the Kamppi Center). The square faces the eastern side of the railway station, with two ornate entrances: a bigger one for public use, and a smaller one exclusively for the President of Finland and his/her official guests.
Kaisaniemi
Kaisaniemi is a part of the centre of Helsinki, Finland. It is located immediately north of the Helsinki Central railway station and south of Hakaniemi. The most famous part of Kaisaniemi is the Kaisaniemi park, a park covering many hectares right in the city centre. Kaisaniemi on part of the Vironniemi district and neighbourhood of Kluuvi. The Kaisaniemi district was first founded in the 1820s when Catharina "Kaisa" Wahllund founded a restaurant in the city centre.
Finnish National Theatre
The Finnish National Theatre, founded in 1872 in the city of Pori, is located in central Helsinki on the northern side of the Helsinki Central Railway Station Square. The Finnish National Theatre is the oldest Finnish-language professional theatre in Finland. It was known as the Finnish Theatre until 1902 when it was renamed the Finnish National Theatre. For the first thirty years of its existence, the theatre functioned primarily as a touring company.
University of Helsinki Botanical Garden
The University of Helsinki Botanical Garden is an institution subordinate to the Finnish Museum of Natural History of the University of Helsinki, which maintains a collection of live plants for use in research and teaching. The Botanical Garden has two separate sites: one in Kaisaniemi and one in Kumpula. The Kaisaniemi Garden is open to the public. Its greenhouse is currently home to more than 800 different species of plants and its grounds to more than 2,800 plants of different origins.
World Village Festival
The World Village Festival is an annual festival in Helsinki, Finland that exhibits cultures from around the world. The programme includes music from ethno to pop and rock, as well as dance, theater, literature and food from different countries. It also hosts exhibitions on multiculturality, globalization and development aid. Between 1995 and 2005 the festival was held every other year, and since 2005 annually in late May.
Kaisaniemi Park
Kaisaniemi park is a popular park, in the center of Helsinki, in the region of Kluuvi. Part of the park was given to the University of Helsinki in 1829, for gardening. The oldest greenhouse was opened in 1889. In the park, is the oldest public memorial in Helsinki, called Freemanson's Grave, there's also a soccer pitch, basketball and tennis court.
Helsinki Workers' House
The Helsinki Workers' House, also known as Paasitorni, is an Art Nouveau convention and conference centre located in Hakaniemi, Helsinki, Finland. It was built in 1908 as conference and leisure premises for the working class, and for a long time, served actively as a workers' house. In the 1970s, the premises hosted a dancing restaurant. Today, it hosts a pub and a restaurant as well as congress facilities.
