Åbo Akademi University
Åbo Akademi University is the only exclusively Swedish language university in Finland. It is located in Turku (Åbo is the Swedish name of the city). As of 2004, there are 7 941 students and a staff consisting of 1125 people. The university has activities not only in Turku, but also in Vaasa, Jakobstad, Helsinki and on Åland. Åbo Akademi was a private institution until 1981, when it was turned into a public institution.

I District, Turku
The I District is the easternmost of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the east side of the river Aura, between Uudenmaankatu and the Helsinki motorway. The main street Hämeenkatu divides the district in Sirkkala and Universities area, and continues as the national road 10 towards Hämeenlinna. The district hosts all three universities of the city, the University of Turku, Åbo Akademi, and the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration.
VI District, Turku
The VI District is the northernmost of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the west side of the river Aura, to the east of Aurakatu. It forms part of the city's central business district, hosting a large proportion of the city's business life, particularly around the central Market Square (Kauppatori). The city's main bus station and the head library are also located in this district. The Finnish national road 1 begins in the VI District.
Katedralskolan i Åbo
Katedralskolan i Åbo (The Cathedral School of Åbo) is the Swedish-language senior high school of Turku, located at the Old Great Square (the town, former capital of Finland, is known as Åbo in Swedish). The school was presumably founded in 1276 for education of boys to become servants of the Church. The schoolhouse was situated in the wall surrounding the Cathedral of Turku. Mikael Agricola, the founder of Finnish literature, was the headmaster of the school 1539-1548.
Raunistula
Raunistula is a district of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the north of the city centre, on the west bank of the river Aura. Raunistula consists mostly of low-density residential area, and the remains of the industrial area there are to be redeveloped into residences in the near future. The current population of Raunistula is 1,442, and it is increasing at an annual rate of 3.47%. 13.87% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 13.38% are over 65.
Old Academy Building
The Old Academy Building is a neoclassical building, originally consecrated in 1817 for the Royal Academy of Turku in Turku, Finland. It is located in Cathedral Square next to Turku Cathedral. The building was designed by Swedish architect Carl Christoffer Gjörwell. Laying down the foundation stone of the Old Academy Building in 1802 was a milestone where Swedish king Gustav IV Adolf and Queen Fredrika Dorotea were present.
Turku Concert Hall
Turku Concert Hall is located on the north side of the Puutori market square in Turku, Finland. The hall was designed by architect Risto-Veikko Luukkonen and constructed in 1952. It was the first concert hall in Finland. The Turku Philharmonic Orchestra primarily performs at the concert hall but there are many top international venues that perform there as well. There is one auditorium in the building and it was designed for concerts. Its audience capacity is 1,002. The acoustics are excellent.
Puutori
Puutori, Trätorget (Swedish, lit. "wood market square") is a market square in the city centre of Turku, Finland. It measures at approximately 100x40m. It is bordered by Aninkaistenkatu/Aningaisgatan, Maariankatu/Mariegatan, Brahenkatu/Brahegatan and Sibeliuksenkatu/Sibeliusgatan. Today, it has no regular market square activity but Puutorin puolesta ry organises different events there each year.
Old Great Square (Turku)
The Old Great Square is a medieval market square located in the city centre of Turku, Finland. It is located in the II District in very close proximity to Turku Cathedral. The area was the administrative and commercial centre of Turku since the founding of the city in the 13th century up until the Great Fire of Turku. Today, there are buildings alongside the Old Great Square, only on the southern side because the blocks on the northern side changed to Porthaninpuisto after the fire.

It symbolises the twin town partnership of Turku and Göteborg. There are two sculptures, the original in Gothenburg and its duplicate at Aninkaistenkatu 12 in Turku. The City of Turku commissioned Aaltonen to make the sculpture for Göteborg as a thank you for aiding Turku during wartime.
Per Brahe Statue
The Per Brahe statue (Finnish: Pietari Brahen patsas, Swedish: Per Brahes staty) is a monument of the general governor of Finland and first chancellor of the Academy of Turku, located in Brahenpuisto in Turku, Finland. It was designed by Walter Runeberg and revealed in 1888. The statue is made of bronze and stands 2.95 metres high. The base is made of red granite, standing 4 metres high.
