Hervanta
Hervanta is a large suburb, or satellite city, of Tampere in Finland, located next to Hallila some 10 km south of the city centre. Home to a population of over 26,000, Hervanta is best known for its prefabricated blocks of flats. The total number of apartments is about 11,000. Nearly a fifth of the inhabitants (some 4,500 people) are students, many of them enrolled at the Tampere University of Technology (TUT) or the Police College.

Tampere University of Technology (TUT) (Finnish: Tampereen teknillinen yliopisto) is Finland's second largest university in engineering sciences. The university is located in Hervanta, a suburb of Tampere. The university's statutory duty is to pursue research and give highest education in its field. The research, conducted by some 1,800 staff and faculty members, mostly focuses on applied science and often has close ties to many different companies.
Hermia (Finland)
Hermia is a science park near Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Hermia is located in Hervanta, a suburb of Tampere, Finland. Hermia is also acting as a technology centre for its region. Hermia offers office space and facilities for both small technology startups and larger companies. It consists of 100,000 m of office space and is home to 150 companies and research organizations, for example to many research and development units of the cell phone manufacturer Nokia.
University of Tampere
The University of Tampere is a university in Tampere, Finland. It has 15,400 degree students and 2,100 employees. It was originally founded in 1925 in Helsinki as a "Civic College" (Kansalaiskorkeakoulu), and from 1930 onwards it was known as a "School of Social Sciences" (Yhteiskunnallinen korkeakoulu). In 1960, the institution relocated to Tampere, and in 1966 it was officially named University of Tampere.

Mikontalo was built during period 1978–1980 . It consists of 4 blocks with 12 floors where 767 dwellings are situated.
Hallila
Hallila is a suburb in Tampere, Finland. Hallila is located between Korkinmäki and Hervanta near Highway 9. Approximately 4,000 people live in Hallila. In Hallila there is a grocery store, a pizzeria, a hairdresser, and a pub. Services provided by the city or the church include an elementary school (grades 1 - 4), a kindergarten, and a church. Hallila was built mostly during the 1990s. Bus lines 6 and 12 operate through Hallila to Hervanta, Hatanpää and the centre of Tampere.
Messukylä
Messukylä is a former municipality of Finland which was annexed by the city of Tampere in 1947. The medieval stone church (built circa 1540) in Messukylä is the oldest building in Tampere. During the Civil War (1918), Messukylä was the scene of heavy battles around both the medieval and new churches.
Tampereen jäähalli
Tampereen jäähalli (Tampere ice hall, often called "Hakametsä") is a sports arena in Tampere, Finland. It is primarily used for ice hockey, and is the home arena of Ilves and Tappara of the SM-liiga. It was built in 1965, and currently the capacity for hockey games is 7800 spectators (6600 seats, 1200 standing).

Tampere Ratina Stadium (Finnish: Tampereen stadionilla Ratinassa), simply known as Tampere Stadium or Ratina Stadium, built in 1965, is a multi-purpose stadium in Tampere, Finland, with a seating capacity of 16,800 people, and up to 32,000 people for concerts. The stadium primarily hosts football matches. It served as Tampere United's home stadium and is sometimes used by the Finnish national team.
Suolijärvi
Suolijärvi is a small lake in Tampere, Finland. It is situated west of the suburb Hervanta. It has a small beach where people can sunbathe or swim during the summer. There are also two trails which bound the lake. The name derives from Finnish suoli (intestine) and järvi (lake). This is probably due to the curved shape of the lake. Suolijärvi is also a village near Puolanka in the Northern Finland east of Oulu.
Tammela Stadion
Tammela Stadion is a football stadium in Tampere, Finland. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 5,040 people and was built in 1931. It is the home stadium for the second division teams TPV and Ilves. The stadium's history began in 1926 when the city council made a decision of building a football field in Tammela. Constructions, however, advanced rather slowly due to lack of funds. The situation worsened during a recession in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
Tampere Film Festival
The Tampere Film Festival is a short film festival held every March in the Finnish town of Tampere. It is accredited by the film producers' society FIAPF, and together with the short film festivals in Oberhausen and Clermont-Ferrand, it is among the most important European short film festivals. The first festival was held in 1969, and since 1970 it has been held in its current form, which makes it the oldest short film festival in Northern Europe.
Tammerkoski
Tammerkoski is a channel of rapids in Tampere, Finland. The city of Tampere is located between two lakes, Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi. The difference in altitude between these two is 18 metres and the water flows from Näsijärvi to Pyhäjärvi through the Tammerkoski rapids. The banks of the Tammerkoski are among the oldest industrial areas in Finland.
Tampere railway station
The Tampere railway station is a functionalist building in Tampere, Finland, designed by Eero Seppälä and Otto Flodin, completed in 1936. The 36-metre clock tower was later added because the Finnish railway bureau required it (its total height from ground level is about 50 metres). The city's main street Hämeenkatu begins at the railway station, continuing over the Hämeensilta bridge to its western end at the Aleksanteri church.
Kaleva (Tampere)
Kaleva is an eastern part of the city of Tampere, Finland. The population of Kaleva is approximately 10,000 (2005). The most notable landmark is the Kaleva Church, built between 1959 and 1966. Kaleva has many educational institutions, the folk high school Sampola and vocational school of economics, two high schools (lukio); Kalevan lukio and Sammon keskuslukio, and two comprehensive schools. It's also the home of the biggest swimming hall in Tampere.
Stockmann, Tampere
The Tampere Stockmann department store is Finland's second oldest department store, located in the centre of Tampere. In terms of sales, it is the third biggest Stockmann department store, after the Helsinki centre and Tapiola stores. It moved to its current quarters on Hämeenkatu near the Tampere railway station in 1981.
Tampere Opera
The Tampere Opera, established in 1946, is an opera house based in Tampere, Finland. The opera is run by guest artists. Their orchestra is the Tampere Filharmonia. The choir is composed of 80 singers and is led by Heikki Liimola. The first visit abroad of Tampere Opera was in 2005, when they visited the National Theatre in Prague.

Kaleva Church is a church located in Kaleva, Tampere, Finland, and designed by Reima and Raili Pietilä. It was built in 1964–1966.
Tampere Cathedral
The Tampere Cathedral (Finnish Tampereen tuomiokirkko, Swedish Tammerfors domkyrka) is a church in Tampere, Finland, and the seat of the Diocese of Tampere. The building was designed in the National Romantic style by Lars Sonck, and built between 1902 and 1907. The cathedral is famous for its frescoes, painted by the symbolist Hugo Simberg between 1905 and 1906.
Tampere Hall
The Tampere Hall is the largest concert and congress centre in the Nordic countries, located in the southern edge of Sorsapuisto, in the centre of Tampere, Finland. Opposite of the Tampere Hall is the main building of the University of Tampere, and the Tampere railway station is only half a kilometre away. The main auditorium has capacity of 1,756 seats. Due to its central location, Tampere Hall hosts many small fairs, including the first ever Finncon in Tampere.

Iidesjärvi is a small lake in Tampere, Finland. It is situated southeast of the center of Tampere. It has a tower built for birdwatchers on its east end.
Police College of Finland
The Police College of Finland is a polytechnic located in Tampere, Finland which operates under the Ministry of the Interior, providing education in the field of police studies. The college offers a 2.5-year Diploma in Police Studies, the Police Sergeant's Examination and a degree of Bachelor in Police Command. Officers wishing to advance into positions requiring higher academic degrees must obtain master's degrees, most commonly in administrative science or law, at other universities.
Tampereen Keskusareena
Tampereen Keskusareena or unofficially Tampere Central Arena is an indoor arena located in Tampere, Finland that is currently in the planning stages. It is planned to replace the old Tampereen jäähalli. If approved and completed by schedule in 2014, it will have a seating capacity of 10,000 spectators. It will host ice hockey games and will be the home of Ilves and Tappara of the SM-liiga. The project was approved by the Tampere City Council on May 19, 2010.
Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Finnish: Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulu, TAMK) is a university of applied sciences in the region of Pirkanmaa, Finland. It was founded in 1996, and the Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences merged with TAMK in 2010. Its campuses are located in Tampere, Ikaalinen, Mänttä-Vilppula and Virrat.
