It is situated on the east coast of the island on the Vágsfjørður fjord, and was founded in the fourteenth century. Expansion has meant that the nearby town of Nes is now a suburb of Vágur.

Vesturi á Eiðinum Stadium
Vesturi á Eiðinum Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Vágur, which is one of the larger villages in the southernmost island Suduroy in the Faroe Islands. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FC Suðuroy, formerly called VB Vágur (until 2005) and VB/Sumba (until 31 Dec. 2009). The stadium holds 3,000 people, but has only 330 seats.
Lopra
Lopra is a village on the island of Suðuroy in the Faroe Islands, with the postal code FO 926. In 2009 its population was 96. It is located in the Municipality of Sumba along with the villages Akrar, Sumba and Víkarbyrgi, constituting the southernmost settlements in the Faroe Islands. The name Lopra may have its origin in the gaelic word "lobar" which translates into English as leprosy, and Lopra may be a pre-Norse settlement of Gaelic hermits from c.6th to c.8th AD.

Eggjarnar (also called Skúvanes, 200 metres above sea level) is a place south of the village Vágur on Suðuroy island in the Faroe Islands, which is known for its scenic view point to the sea cliffs of the southern part of Suðuroy all the way to Beinisvørð in the south and to Vágseiði and Gjógvaráfjall in the north.
Borgarknappur
Borgarknappur is a mountain in Suðuroy, Faroe Islands. The mountain is 574 meter high. It is located in the center of the island, west of the village Hov and south-east of Fámjin, south-west of Øravík and north of Vágur. Another mountain peak, which is called Borgin (570 meters high) is just west of Borgarknappur, and a mountain called Hvannafelli (558 meters high) is further south.
Vágseiði
Vágseiði is an area in Vágur, Faroe Islands, located on the west coast of Suðuroy west of the village Vágur, from which it takes its name. Eiði is the Faroese word for Isthmus. The distance between the east and the west coast of Vágur is only one km. There is a lake between the village and Vágseiði, the lake is called Vatnið, which is the Faroese word for Lake. The football stadium of FC Suðuroy and the sports hall Vágshøll are located on Vágseiði, 100-200 m from the cliffs.
