Tinganes
Tinganes is the historic location of the Faroese landsstýri (government), and is a part of Tórshavn. The name means "parliament jetty" or "parliament point" in Faroese. The parliament met here for the first time in the Viking ages when Norwegian colonists placed their Ting (parliament) here in 825. It is one of the oldest parliamentary meeting places in the world, along with Tynwald hill in the Isle of Man and Þingvellir in Iceland.
Tórshavn Cathedral
Tórshavn Cathedral is the second oldest received church of the Faroe Islands, on Tinganes in the old town of Tórshavn. Painted white, and roofed with slate, it was established in 1788. The cathedral church lies in the north of the peninsula Tinganes and is one of the main attractions of the town. Like most churches of the country it belongs to the Evangelical-Lutheran national church of the Faroe Islands.
Gundadalur
Gundadalur is the name of an area in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. It is home to three different football pitches and other sports facilities. The largest one is the national stadium Tórsvøllur, a multi-use stadium. The actual Gundadalur Stadium is the home ground of both HB Tórshavn and B36 Tórshavn, located just alongside Tórsvøllur. It was opened in 1911. In Faroese it is called Ovari Vøllur (The Upper Field).
Tórsvøllur
Tórsvøllur is a football stadium on the sport site Gundadalur in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. The stadium holds 6,040 people and was built in 1999 to become the country's national stadium and provide a grass surface in the capital Tórshavn on which international football matches could be played. Previously, the Faroe Islands national team played its home matches in the town of Toftir at the Svangaskarð stadium.
University of the Faroe Islands
The University of the Faroe Islands is a state-run university located in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. It consists of three faculties: Faroese Language and Literature, Science and Technology, and History and Social Sciences. The university offers bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. 's in all three faculties. The student body is small, with 142 students total. The university organizes an annual dissertation competition open to all students.

Listasavn Føroya
Listasavn Føroya (Faroe Islands Art Museum) is an art museum in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands for mostly permanent exhibits of Faroese arts. Tórshavn is the capital of Faroe Islands. Established in 1989, it consists of a gallery called Listaskáli (since 1970) and another for historic arts (since 1993) with an area of 1,600 m². The museum is located at the northern end of the Park of Tórshavn nearby the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands. Architect of the building was J.P. Gregoriussen.
H. N. Jacobsens Bókahandil
H.N. Jacobsens Bókahandil is the oldest bookshop in Tórshavn and Faroe. It is also one of the oldest shops still in business in the Faroe Islands today. The bookshop was established on St. Olafs day on 29 July 1865 by bookbinder Hans Nicolai Jacobsen. He was the father of Jakob Jakobsen (1864-1918), who is one of the most important faroese philologists. H. N.
Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands are an island group and archipelago under the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark, situated between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately halfway between Norway and Iceland. The total area is approximately 1,400 km (540 sq mi) with a 2010 population of almost 50,000 people. The Faroe Islands have been a self-governing country within the Danish Realm since 1948. Over the years, the Faroese have taken control of most domestic matters.
Skansin
Skansin is a historic fortress in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands. Skansin is located on a hill beside the port of Tórshavn. The fort was built in 1580 by Magnus Heinason to protect against pirate raids of the town, after he himself was nearly caught up in one such raid. The fort was expanded considerably in 1780 and went through a series of rebuilds for many years afterwards. During the Second World War the fort served Britain as a military base.
