Aramis, Ethiopia
Aramis is a village and archaeological site in northeastern Ethiopia, where remains of Australopithecus and Ardipithecus (Ardipithecus ramidus) have been found. The village is located in Administrative Zone 3 of the Afar Region with a latitude and longitude of {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:10|30|N|40|30|E||| | |name= }}, and is part of the Gewane woreda. The Central Statistical Agency did not mention this village in their 2005 population report.
Ardi
Ardi (ARA-VP-6/500) is the designation of the fossilized skeletal remains of an Ardipithecus ramidus, an early human-like species 4.4 million years old. It is the most complete early hominid specimen, with most of the skull, teeth, pelvis, hands and feet, more complete than the previously known Australopithecus afarensis specimen called "Lucy. " In all, 110 different pieces of fossilized bone were found. Ardi weighed about 110 pounds and could be up to 4 feet tall.
