Battle of al-Babein
The Battle of al-Babein took place on March 18, 1167, between Amalric I of Jerusalem and a Zengid army under Shirkuh for control of Egypt. Saladin served as Shirkuh’s highest-ranking officer in the battle. The battle was a tactical draw between the Zengid forces and King Amalric's invasion army.

The Manial Palace and Museum, (Arabic; met-haf al-Manial), is a former Ottoman Egyptian dynasty era palace and grounds on Rhoda Island in the Nile, located in the Sharia al-Saray area in the El-Manial district of southern Cairo, Egypt. The palace and estate has been preserved as an Antiquities Council directed historic house museum and estate, reflecting the settings and lifestyle of the late 19th and early 20th century Egyptian royal prince and heir apparent.
Rhoda Island
Rhoda Island or Rawdah Island,, is an island located on the Nile in central Cairo. The El-Manial District, and the Al-Manyal Palace Museum and gardens, are located on the island. It is west of historic Old Cairo, across a small branch of the Nile. The island has one of the oldest Islamic buildings in Egypt, the Nilometer on its southern tip.

Giza Zoo
The Giza Zoo is a zoological garden in Giza, Egypt. It is one of the few green areas in the city, and includes Giza's largest park. Located on Al-Roda Island, the Grand Nile Tower Hotel was built as Le Méridien Cairo. It was expanded with the addition of a 41 floor tower in 2003, when it was renamed the Grand Hyatt Cairo. The hotel has 714 rooms and includes a shopping mall and a rotating restaurant. It ceased to be managed by the Hyatt chain on March 20, 2011 due to unresolved contractual disputes with the hotel’s owner and is currently operated as an independent hotel.
57357 Hospital
57357 Hospital, located in Cairo, Egypt, is one of the biggest hospitals specialized in children's cancer in the world. Fundraising for the hospital, including well-attended benefit festivals, started in 1998, with a target date for opening of December 2003. It eventually opened in 2007.
2011 attack on the Israeli Embassy in Egypt
On 9 September 2011, several thousand protesters forcibly entered the Israeli embassy in Giza, Greater Cairo, after breaking down a recently constructed wall built to protect the compound. The protesters later broke into a police station and stole weapons, resulting in police using tear gas in an attempt to protect themselves. The demonstrators eventually broke through the security wall and entered the offices of the embassy.
