Guayas Province
Guayas is a coastal province in Ecuador. It is bordered to the west by Manabí, Santa Elena, and the Pacific Ocean; to the east by Los Ríos, Bolívar, Chimborazo, Cañar, and Azuay; to the north by Los Ríos and Bolívar; and to the south by El Oro and the Pacific Ocean. With a population of over 3 million people, it is the most populous province in Ecuador. It is the fourth largest province in the country in terms of area. The largest city of Ecuador, Guayaquil, is located within the province.

Babahoyo River
The Babahoyo River is a river in western Ecuador, fed by tributaries rising in the Andes Mountains. It takes its name from the town of Babahoyo in Los Ríos. At Durán, it joins the Daule River to form the Guayas River, which continues to the Pacific Ocean. The river is the backbone of trade in the city of the same name. Much of west-central Ecuadorian agricultural produce, especially rice, sugarcane, fruits, balsa wood, and tagua nuts are grown here.

Santay Island (Spanish Isla Santay) is a 2200 ha. island located in Guayas, Ecuador. It is part of the Durán Canton. It is surrounded by the Guayas River and populated by 47 families living there since the 1950's and before. Santay has been declared the 1041 Ramsar site and the island is in the process of becoming a National Protected Area.

Tarqui is an urban parish in Guayaquil Canton, Guayas, Ecuador, named after the Battle of Tarqui. Tarqui is the largest and most populous parish in Guayaquil. Mapasingue
Mapasingue is a barrio (neighborhood) of the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador. Mapasingue was an hacienda in the 19th century; in November 1859, a Peruvian army contingent occupied its lands as a result of an agreement between Peruvian President Ramon Castilla and Supreme Chief of Guayas Guillermo Franco, in the matter of the territorial dispute between the two countries. The peace treaty signed between the two regimes in 1860 was known as the Treaty of Mapasingue.
