Paphos
Paphos, sometimes spelt as Pafos, is a coastal city in the southwest of Cyprus and the capital of Paphos District. In antiquity, two locations were called Paphos: Old Paphos and New Paphos. The currently inhabited city is New Paphos. It lies on the Mediterranean coast, about 50 km west of the Limassol (the biggest port in island), which has an A6 highway connection. Paphos International Airport is the country's second largest airport.
Emba, Paphos
Emba is one of the largest villages in Paphos, Cyprus. It is spread over a wide area and not only borders Paphos but also the villages of Chlorakas, Kissonerga, Tala, Tremithousa and Mesogi. It has a population of 4,500 people. The village already existed by the Byzantine era and it is known from the Frankish period with the same name. The 15th century Cypriot historian Leontios Machairas in his Chronicle, par. 129, mentions a visit of the King of Cyprus, Peter I (1359–1369), quoting "...
Paphos District
Paphos District is one of the six districts of Cyprus and it is situated in the western part of Cyprus. Its main town and capital is Paphos. The entire district is controlled by the internationally recognized government of Cyprus. There are four municipalities in Paphos District: Paphos, Yeroskipou, Peyia, and Polis Chrysochous. The area of the district is 1,393 km. ², which constitutes the 15.1% of the total area of the island, and the population in 2011 was 88,266.
Kissonerga
Kissonerga is a village in South West Cyprus, about 5 miles north of Paphos, in a region notable for the cultivation of banana plantations, an area known as the Ktima Lowlands. In 1980 the population of the village was 700 people. Kissonerga is about eight kilometres down the main road from Paphos towards Coral Bay. Along the coast road are several hotels, mini-markets, numerous bars and taverns, as well as small complexes of shops mainly catering for tourists.
Tombs of the Kings (Paphos)
The Tombs of the Kings (Greek: Τάφοι των Βασιλέων) is a large necropolis lying about two kilometres north-west of Paphos harbour in Cyprus. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The underground tombs, many of which date back to the 4th century BCE, are carved out of solid rock, and are thought to have been the burial sites of Paphitic aristocrats and high officials up to the third century CE (the name comes from the magnificence of the tombs; no kings were in fact buried here).
Miliou
Miliou is a village on the island of Cyprus. On the road from Paphos to Polis, about 13 km before you reach Polis, there is a turning on the left which will take you to the little village of Miliou nestling on the Laona plateau. Right next door to the springs is the restored monastery of 'Agii Anargyri which is now being used as a spa hotel. The monastery was built in 1649 and is said to be one of the first ever on the island.
Pafiako Stadium
The Pafiako Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Paphos, the stadium holds 9,394 people. It has a full size running track around the outside of its football and rugby playing field and is used for many athletics events throughout the year. It is regarded as one of the best pitches in Cyprus and situated ideally for the public. The home stadium of AEP Paphos.
Lempa, Cyprus
Lempa is a village in Cyprus located approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) north of the town of Paphos. It is sometimes written as Lemba, which is also closer to the correct pronunciation. Neighboring villages are Empa, Kissonerga and Chlorakas. The village is located on top of an escarpment overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, and is set in one of the most fertile parts of Cyprus.
Nata, Paphos
Nata is a small village in the Paphos area of southwest Cyprus. It is a small relatively unspoilt traditional village situated on the south-eastern hillside of the Xeros River Valley with approximately 300 residents that is slowly growing due to the number of foreigners wanting to live there. The valley is green in winter but brown in summer.
Coral Bay, Cyprus
Coral Bay is a popular tourist resort in the Peyia municipality 6 km North of the city of Paphos. The coast to the north and to the south of Coral Bay is characterized by rocky headlands and sea caves, Coral Bay itself is a 600m crescent of soft white sand, enclosed by a pair of limestone headlands. Coral Bay beach carries an EU Blue Flag certification which means that it adheres to all standards, rules and regulations required by the relevant committee of the European Union.
Arodhes
Arodhes is a village in the North West of Cyprus close to the Akamas peninsula. It is about 23 km from the town of Paphos. Arodhes is composed of two smaller settlements; Pano Arodhes (mainly Greek Cypriot) and Kato Arodhes (previously mainly Turkish Cypriot). In 1975 (a year after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus), Kato Arodhes was abandoned and many of the buildings fell into disrepair.
Paphos General Hospital
Paphos General Hospital is the Paphos district's main medical centre. With four stories and 25.000m this pyramid shaped hospital is designed to offer to patients first aid to MRI Scans. When opened in 1992 it was considered one of the best medical centers in the Middle East. Nowadays this is not valid. The hospital was left to decline and it is currently unable to handle the rapidly growing population of Paphos.
Aphroditi Sports Hall
Aphroditi Sports Hall is the largest arena in the city of Paphos. It is named after "Aphrodite", also known as Venus, one of the 12 ancient Greek gods which is said was born at Petra Tou Romiou 20 km East. This arena can host up to 2,000 spectators. Is the home of "Pafiakos" and "Dionysos" volley teams, both playing at the Cypriot first division.
Phiti
Phiti village also known as Phyti, is situated on a plateau 25 kilometers north-east of Paphos and 20 kilometres south-east of Polis Chrysochous. There are several small villages within a 3 kilometre radius of Fyti including, Lasa, Kritou Marottou and Anadhiou all residing at an average altitude of 680 metres.
Tala, Paphos
Tala is a large suburban village 6 km due north of the city centre of Paphos, Cyprus. Many non-Cypriots have moved here permanently or have a summer home in Tala. Ayios Neofytos Monastery is 1 km north. Tala is the ancestral village of the singer Cat Stevens. His father, Stavros Georgiou, was born here in 1900. In his book 'Historic Cyprus' (second edition 1947), Rupert Gunnis (at that time Inspector of Antiquities on the island) wrote: "The Church of St.
Kathikas
Kathikas is one of the Laona villages in the Paphos District of Cyprus. It is situated on a plateau 23 kilometers north of Paphos. It has an altitude of 645m and a population of 333. It is well known for its grape production, most notably sultana grapes. It also has a flourishing agrotourism industry. Kathikas has a very active Residents Association
Peyia Municipal Stadium
Peyia Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Peyia, Cyprus. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of APOP Kinyras Peyias FC. The stadium holds 3,828 people and the municipality of Peyia expects to extend the gradines so the capacity will reach the 7.500 people.
Stroumbi
Stroumbi is a small village in the heart of Paphos District and exactly in the middle of the distance between Paphos and Polis. The name of the village is said to be coming from its founder, a man called "Stroumpos" or by the view of the mountains around the village (stroumpoula - rounded). Paphos Archaeological Park

These include mosaic floors of four Roman villas, as well as Agora, Asklipieion, "Limeniotissa" Ruins, Odeion, "Saranta Kolones" Fortress, and "Tombs of the Kings". The park, still under excavation, is within the Nea Pafos ("New Paphos") section of the coastal city.
