Zagreb Funicular
The Zagreb Funicular is the funicular in Zagreb operated by ZET, situated in Tomić Street, connecting the Ilica Street with Strossmayerovo šetalište (Strossmayer promenade) to the north. Its 66-metre track makes it one of the shortest public-transport funiculars in the world. The funicular was built in 1890 and has been in operation since April 23, 1893. Initially it had steam engines, which were substituted with electrical in 1934.
Dolac Market
Dolac is a farmers' market located in Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district of Zagreb, Croatia. Dolac is the most visited and the best known farmer's market in Zagreb, well known for its combination of traditional open market with stalls and a sheltered market below. It is located only a few dozen meters away from the main city square, Ban Jelačić Square, in the middle between the oldest parts of Zagreb, Gradec and Kaptol.
Medveščak (creek)
Medveščak (also called Crikvenik) is a creek in central Zagreb, Croatia. It flows from Kraljičin zdenac in Podsljeme down along the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain to the Manduševac Fountain, its mouth. The creek was covered in 1898 and today forms part of the Zagreb sewer system.
Ribnjak, Zagreb
Ribnjak is a neighborhood in the Gornji Grad - Medveščak district of Zagreb, Croatia, directly east of the Zagreb Cathedral. According to the 2001 census, the neighborhood has 2,956 inhabitants. In 2009, the population was 1,770. It is centered mainly around its main north-south thoroughfare, the Ribnjak Street. ZET tram tracks in the Ribnjak Road pass through the neighborhood, carrying lines 8 and 14.
Tkalčićeva Street
Tkalčićeva Street is a street in the Zagreb, Croatia city center. Extending from the vicinity of the central Ban Jelačić Square to its northern end at the Little Street, the street flows between the Gornji Grad in the west and Nova Ves in the east. The street is officially within the Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district, constituting the former "August Cesarec" commune (abolished in 1994). According to the 2001 Croatian census, the street has 1,591 inhabitants.
Grič cannon
The Grič cannon is one of the Zagreb landmarks. Since 1 January 1877 the cannon is fired from the Lotrščak Tower on Grič to mark midday. Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters
The Strossmayer Gallery of Old Masters (Strossmayerova Galerija Starih Majstora) is a fine art museum in Zagreb, Croatia exhibiting the collection donated to the city by Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer in 1884. Located at 11 Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square, it forms part of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Hrvatske Akademija Znanosti i Umjetnosti).
Zagreb Synagogue
The Zagreb Synagogue was the main place of worship for the Jewish community of Zagreb in modern-day Croatia, from its construction in 1867 in the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia within the Austrian Empire, until its demolition by the fascist authorities in 1941 in the Axis-aligned Independent State of Croatia. The Moorish Revival synagogue was located on modern-day Praška Street and has been the only purpose-built Jewish house of worship in the history of the city.
Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square
Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square (Croatian: Trg Nikole Šubića Zrinskog, popularly referred to as Zrinjevac) is a square and park in Donji Grad, the central part of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. It is located near the central Ban Jelačić Square, halfway towards the Main Railway Station. It is a part of the so-called Green horseshoe or Lenuzzi's horseshoe (Croatian: Zelena potkova or Lenucijeva potkova), which consists of seven squares in Donji grad.
Zagreb Orthodox Cathedral
Zagreb Orthodox Cathedral or Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Lord is Serbian Orthodox Cathedral located on the Petar Preradović Square in Zagreb, Croatia. It was built in 1865-1866 according to designs of a Croatian architect Franjo Klein. In 1883-1884, and then again in 1899 and 1913-1914 it was restored by an Austrian architect Hermann Bollé. Sabotage at the General Post Office in Zagreb
Sabotage at the General Post Office in Zagreb took place during the Second World War on Sunday, 14 September 1941. Zagreb was the capital city of the NDH, a puppet state of Nazi Germany. At exactly 12.30 p.m. two muffled explosions were heard, all glass in the main post office building was broken, and through the window flew out a large quantity of office paper and all kinds of documents.
