Jing'an District
Jing'an District is one of the central districts of Shanghai. It has an area of 7.62 km². With 305,300 inhabitants (in 2002) it is one of Shanghai's most densely populated districts. The district borders the Huangpu District in the east and south, Putuo District to the north and Changning District to the west. It is also home to one of Shanghai's business districts as can be seen in photos below.
Shanghai Art Museum
The Shanghai Art Museum (上海美术馆) was an art museum in the city of Shanghai, China. In October 2012 the museum rebranded as the "China Art Museum, Shanghai" (中华艺术宫) when it moved to the China pavilion at Expo 2010 on the former Shanghai Expo 2010 lands. The Shanghai Art Museum building is the former clubhouse building of the Shanghai Race Club. It sits on the edge of People's Square, which was once the Shanghai race course. The Shanghai Art Museum was the original home of the Shanghai Biennale.
Xintiandi
Xintiandi (Chinese: 新天地; pinyin: Xīntiāndì, "New Heaven and Earth") is an affluent car-free shopping, eating and entertainment district of Shanghai, China. It is composed of an area of reconstituted traditional shikumen ("stone gate") houses on narrow alleys, some adjoining houses which now serve as book stores, cafes and restaurants, and shopping malls. Most of the cafes and restaurants feature both indoor and outdoor seating.
South Shaanxi Road Station
South Shaanxi Road is the name of an interchange station between Lines 1 and 10 of the Shanghai Metro. It is situated within the inner ring-road in Luwan District. The station will serve Line 12 when it enters operation in 2012. Meanwhile, due to construction works on the new line, interchanging between lines 1 and 10 requires exiting the station and crossing a road.
South Huangpi Road Station
South Huangpi Road is the name of a station on Line 1 of the Shanghai Metro. The station is situated within the Inner Ring Road and adjacent to Middle Huaihai Road, the major up-market shopping street in Shanghai. The neighbourhood in the vicinity was a residential district in the old French Concession. In recent years, the area was bought by a property developer and turned into an expensive restaurant district.
Jin Jiang Tower
Jin Jiang Tower is a 46 floor tower in Shanghai, China and was completed in 1988. It was built by architects Wong Tung & Partners Limited. It was the tallest building in Shanghai from its completion in 1988, to the construction of the Oriental Pearl Tower in 1994. It has the largest observatory revolving restaurant in Shanghai.
West Nanjing Road Station
Nanjing Road West is the name of a station on Line 2, Shanghai Metro of the Shanghai Metro. This station is conveniently located along one of Shanghai's main commercial streets, with a number of international flagship stores situated nearby. Before October 2006, it was known as Shimen No. 1 Road station (石门一路站).
Shanghai Centre
Shanghai Centre is located on West Nanjing Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai. It is a comprehensive building complex consisting of three towers rising from an eight-storey base. The whole complex hosts 472 apartment units, 30,000 sq. meters of high-end office area, a supermarket, three stories of luxury department stores, Shanghai Centre Theatre, a Trading Exhibition Centre, and a 5-star hotel. The complex opened in April, 1990, and it consists of three towers and several accessory buildings.
Canidrome (Shanghai)
The Shanghai Cultural Plaza precinct is an area in Shanghai's Luwan District, in the former French Concession of Shanghai, China. The area began as the Canidrome, a stadium structure originally built for greyhound racing in 1928. The clubhouse and racetrack became a multi-purpose entertainment venue, but became a place for political rallies after the founding of the People's Republic of China and a mass execution facility.
Xintiandi Station
Xintiandi station is the name of a station on Shanghai Metro Line 10. It will also be a station on Line 13.
Fuxing Park
Fuxing Park (复兴公园) is located in the former French Concession of Shanghai, in Luwan District near Nanchang Road. The park, about 10 ha. in size, is designed in the French style, with a center lake, fountains, covered pavilions, and flowerbeds. Early morning, the park fills with dancers, card players, mahjong enthusiasts, and tai chi solo and group artists. According to Time magazine's Hannah Beech, it is one of the must-see sights in Shanghai.
Huaihai Road
Huaihai Road or Huaihai Lu is one of the two most famous shopping streets in Shanghai, China; the other is Nanjing Road. Compared with the more touristy Nanjing Road, Huaihai Road is more upscale, and is the preferred destination of local residents. Huaihai Road comprises three sections, the main section being Middle Huaihai Road in the former French Concession of Shanghai. Middle Huaihai Road is also well known by its former French name Avenue Joffre.
