Sanhattan
Sanhattan is the popular sobriquet given to Chile's capital Santiago's high-end financial district. It is located to the northeast of the capital, in the western end of the Las Condes commune between the Mapocho River and the Américo Vespucio avenue, in the barrios known as El Bosque Norte and El Golf. The main street crossing Sanhattan is Avenida Apoquindo. A narrower definition puts Sanhattan between Andrés Bello and Vitacura avenues, from their intersection down to Nueva Los Leones avenue.
The Grange School, Santiago
The Grange School is a private co-ed school in La Reina, Santiago, Chile with an enrollment of about 1,800 and over 300 employees. It is known for a strong sports program in addition to high academic standards. It was founded June 4, 1928, by John A.S. Jackson —an anglo-Chilean born in Valparaíso and educated at Cambridge University. Part of his founding philosophy was to apply the concepts of "fair play" and the notion of an "all-rounder" person.
Costanera Center
Costanera Center is an ongoing development and construction of four skyscrapers being built in Santiago, Chile by Cencosud. The tallest of the four buildings Gran Torre Santiago, designed by architect César Pelli, will be 300 metres tall, making it the tallest building in South America when completed and second tallest in the Southern Hemisphere. This is only behind Australia's Q1 on the Gold Coast at 322 m tall. Two other buildings will be 170 m high and a fourth one will be smaller.

Battle of Pucará
The Battle of Pucará was fought on February 5, 1882, during the Sierra Campaign of the War of the Pacific. With a two-to-one superiority in numbers and even more in artillery, the Chilean army under the command of Colonel Estanislao del Canto was unable to destroy the little Peruvian army of General Cáceres, and withdrew to the town of Pucará leaving the Peruvian army to continue its strategic retreat.
Tobalaba metro station
Tobalaba is a station on the Santiago Metro in Santiago, Chile. The works of conversion of the station into a transfer station between the Line 1 and the new Line 4 were completed in 2005. The appearance of the original station was also altered. The station is the northern terminus of the Line 4 and is the closest metro station to the Costanera Center.
1647 Santiago earthquake
The 1647 Santiago earthquake struck Santiago, Chile on the night of May 13th and is said to have brought virtually every building in the city to the ground. The earthquake was felt throughout the so-called Captaincy General of Chile, an administrative territory of the Spanish Empire. The maximum felt intensity was XI on the Mercalli intensity scale and there were about a thousand casualties.

2010 Santiago prison fire
The 2010 Santiago prison fire was a conflagration in the San Miguel prison in Santiago, Chile, in which 81 inmates were killed, making it the country's deadliest prison incident. The fire broke out at 5:30am Chile Daylight Time, on the third floor, reportedly during a fight between rival gangs who set mattresses alight. Local firefighters took around three hours to bring the fire under control.
National Astronomical Observatory (Chile)
The National Astronomical Observatory of Chile is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by the Department of Astronomy of the University of Chile (UCh). It is located on Cerro Calán, a hill in the commune of Las Condes. The commune is an eastern suburb of Santiago located in Santiago Province of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. OAN was founded in 1852 and became a part of UCh in 1927. The facility on Cerro Calán was completed in 1962.
Escuela Militar metro station
Escuela Militar is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is located beneath the cloverleaf-like interchange of Apoquindo Avenue and Américo Vespucio Avenue. The station was the eastern terminus of the Line 1 from 1980 to 2010, and is named for the nearby Escuela Militar del Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins.
El Golf metro station
El Golf is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is located in El Golf neighborhood, close to the building that serves as the seat of local government for Las Condes. A work of art by Rodolfo Opazo is installed on the walls of the station. The station is undergoing renovation work to replace the original wall covering. The work is scheduled to be completed in February 2012.

Plaza Egaña metro station
Plaza Egaña is an underground metro station on the Line 4 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is located under Egaña Square. The cross-section of the platform-level tunnel has the shape of two partially intersecting circles, which was so designed due to the predominant presence of clay in the surrounding soil. Support columns of 1.1 m in diameter separate the tracks from each other. The platforms have 140 m long.
Manquehue metro station
Manquehue is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is part of the 3.8 kilometres eastern extension of the Line 1. The station consists of a platform tunnel and three transepts containing a mezzanine each, which are connected by a bridge that is suspended from the tunnel ceiling by tie rods. Each mezzanine is accessed via two entrances on both sides of Apoquindo Avenue.
