Sanhattan
Sanhattan is the popular sobriquet given to Chile's capital Santiago's high-end financial district. It is located to the northeast of the capital, in the western end of the Las Condes commune between the Mapocho River and the Américo Vespucio avenue, in the barrios known as El Bosque Norte and El Golf. The main street crossing Sanhattan is Avenida Apoquindo. A narrower definition puts Sanhattan between Andrés Bello and Vitacura avenues, from their intersection down to Nueva Los Leones avenue.
Cementerio General de Santiago
The Cementerio General de Santiago, Chile is one of the largest cemeteries in Latin America with an estimated 2 million burials. The cemetery was established in 1820 after Chile's independence when Bernardo O'Higgins inaugurated the Alameda de las Delicias along the old course of the Mapocho River.
Barrio Suecia
Barrio Suecia is a section of Santiago, Chile, centered around Calle Suecia ("Swedish Street"), in the upscale Providencia municipality, which includes many pubs, discos and restaurants. Frequently the area is simply referred to as "Calle Suecia. " A commonly used pun is formed by changing the word Suecia to sucia, Spanish for "dirty", because the area is notorious for drunkenness and debauched nightlife.
San Cristóbal Hill
Cerro San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Hill) is a hill in central - northern Santiago, Chile. It rises 880 m AMSL and about 300 m above the rest of Santiago; the peak is the second highest point in the city, after Cerro Renca. Cerro San Cristóbal was named by the spanish- chilean San Cristóbal family, although it´s original name is Tupahue . The San Cristóbal family held a quarry on the hills south side, close to the Mapocho river.
El Mercurio
El Mercurio is a conservative Chilean newspaper with editions in Valparaíso and Santiago. Its Santiago edition is considered the country's paper-of-record and its Valparaíso edition is the oldest daily in the Spanish language currently in circulation. El Mercurio is owned by El Mercurio S.A.P. (Sociedad Anónima Periodística, "joint stock news company"), which operates a network of 19 regional dailies and 32 radio stations across the country.
Estadio Santa Laura-Universidad SEK
Estadio Santa Laura is a football stadium in Independencia, Santiago, Chile. It is the home stadium of Unión Española. The stadium holds 22,000 people and was built in 1922. It is a multi-use stadium, also used for concerts. Its attendance for football matches is rarely above 5,000 spectators.
Costanera Center
Costanera Center is an ongoing development and construction of four skyscrapers being built in Santiago, Chile by Cencosud. The tallest of the four buildings Gran Torre Santiago, designed by architect César Pelli, will be 300 metres tall, making it the tallest building in South America when completed and second tallest in the Southern Hemisphere. This is only behind Australia's Q1 on the Gold Coast at 322 m tall. Two other buildings will be 170 m high and a fourth one will be smaller.
Parroquia de Santa Filomena
Parroquia de Santa Filomena (Parish of Santa Filomena) is a church located in the Patronato District of the Recoleta Municipality in the city of Santiago Chile. This church is named after Santa Filomena, a saint and a martyr. The Santa Filomena Church was built in 1884 by the architect Eugenio Joannon and under the supervision of Ruperto Marchant, a priest.

Jardín Botánico Chagual
The Jardín Botánico Chagual is a 33.9-hectare Chilean botanical garden in the process of development, focusing on the preservation of plants native to the Mediterranean climatic zone of Chile (between 30° and 38° S latitude). It forms part of the Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas del Estado (SNASPE; National System of Protected Areas of the Country) and of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI).
Tobalaba metro station
Tobalaba is a station on the Santiago Metro in Santiago, Chile. The works of conversion of the station into a transfer station between the Line 1 and the new Line 4 were completed in 2005. The appearance of the original station was also altered. The station is the northern terminus of the Line 4 and is the closest metro station to the Costanera Center.
1647 Santiago earthquake
The 1647 Santiago earthquake struck Santiago, Chile on the night of May 13th and is said to have brought virtually every building in the city to the ground. The earthquake was felt throughout the so-called Captaincy General of Chile, an administrative territory of the Spanish Empire. The maximum felt intensity was XI on the Mercalli intensity scale and there were about a thousand casualties.

Chilean National Zoo
The Chilean National Zoo (Zoológico Nacional de Chile) is a 4.8-hectare zoo that was founded in 1925 in Santiago, Chile. Located at the foot of San Cristóbal Hill in what is known as the Santiago Metropolitan Park (Parque Metropolitano de Santiago), the zoo is home to thousands of animals representing 158 species. Unique exhibits feature Chilean native animals and birds including rare and endangered species.
Barrio Patronato
Barrio Patronato is a traditional neighborhood in Santiago, Chile. It is bounded by Avenida Recoleta from the west, Bellavista Street from the south, Loreto Street from the eatst, and Dominica street from the north. Administratively, it corresponds to Junta de Vecinos no. 34 (Neighborhood Council No.34) "Andrés Bello" of Recoleta commune. There is Patronato metro station of Santiago Metro.
Iglesia de la Divina Providencia
The Iglesia de la Divina Providencia is a church in Santiago, Chile. It is administered by the Sisters of Providence. Designed by architect Eduardo Provasoli, the church was built between 1881 and 1890 in Neo-Renaissance style. It gives its name to the district of Providencia and also to Avenida Providencia. The top of its bell tower was destroyed by the 2010 Chile earthquake.
Cerro Blanco
Cerro Blanco is a hill and historical landmark in the city of Santiago, Chile. This geographic feature rises 89 metres above the surrounding terrain and covers a surface area of 28 hectares . It is bordered by Recoleta Avenue on the east, Santos Dumont Avenue on the south and La Unión Street on the north. The latter street separates the hill from the Cementerio General de Santiago.

Cementerios metro station
Cementerios is an underground metro station on the Line 2 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. The word cementerios means cemeteries in English and the station is so named because it is located under a segment of Recoleta Avenue that forms the borders of two cemeteries, Cementerio General de Santiago to the west and the smaller Cementerio Católico to the east.
Manuel Montt metro station
Manuel Montt is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It was opened in 1980 as part of the metro extension from Salvador to Escuela Militar. Initially its walls were covered with stoneware ceramic tiles of blue and orange colors, some of which loosen or fall off as a consequence of the 2010 Chile earthquake. The total replacement of its wall tiles is underway.
Pedro de Valdivia metro station
Pedro de Valdivia is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. The station is named for the nearby Pedro de Valdivia Avenue, which in turn was named for Pedro de Valdivia. The platform level features a vaulted drop ceiling of stained glass. A second work of art is entitled La Ciudad (The City), which consists of four enameled steel murals placed on the walls of the four platform stairways. Both artworks were unveiled on January 13, 1999.
Los Leones metro station
Los Leones is an underground metro station on the Line 1 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. The station is named for the nearby Los Leones Avenue. Located in the heart of the commercial area of Providencia, some of its entrances are integrated into the retail lower levels of buildings. A ceramic mosaic by the artist Ramón Vergara Grez was installed in 1993. As of 2011, the original tiles on its walls have been completely removed.
Vespucio Norte metro station
Vespucio Norte is an underground metro station on the Line 2 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. It is the northern terminus of the Line 2 and provides 120 underground parking spaces. Built in open cut, the station has two side platforms and two tracks. At the center of the station a large mezzanine, without central support, spans over tracks and platforms, all of which are surmounted by a longitudinally curved ceiling.
