The St. Michael's College School Arena is a 1,600-seat hockey arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was built in 1956 on the campus of St. Michael's College School in central Toronto, and originally was an outdoor rink. A half-cylinder shape wooden roof was finally built over the ice. The arena was the home to the Toronto St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League.
1995 Russell Hill subway accident
The 1995 Russell Hill subway accident was a deadly train crash that occurred in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on the Yonge-University-Spadina subway line of the Toronto subway and RT on August 11, 1995. Three people were killed and 30 were taken to hospital with injuries when one train rear-ended another train. The subway line was shut down for five days following the incident. Investigations found that human error and a design flaw in the mechanical safety devices caused this accident.
Bracondale Hill
Bracondale Hill, also known as Hillcrest, is a neighbourhood located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Annexed by the old City of Toronto in 1909 and developed in 1911 from the Turner estate, Bracondale Hill is in the western end of midtown Toronto and stretches above Davenport Road and below St. Clair Avenue West. The area is home to mostly large early-20th-century single-family homes surrounding Hillcrest Park that overlooks the city.
Seaton Village
Seaton Village is a former unincorporated village located west of downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is named after John Colborne, 1st Baron Seaton, Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada from 1828 to 1836. Seaton Village is bordered by Bloor Street to the south, the Canadian Pacific Railway (C.P.R. ) tracks to the north, Christie Street to the west, and Bathurst Street to the east. It is within the broader 'The Annex' neighbourhood, as defined by the City of Toronto.
Wychwood Park
Wychwood Park is a neighbourhood enclave and former gated community in Toronto, Canada. The small community is located north of Davenport Road and just west of Bathurst Street. It was founded as an artists colony in the late nineteenth century as a private project by painter Marmaduke Matthews and Alexander Jardin. The region was then still a rural region on the edge of the city, and Matthews planned out a bucolic community and named it after Wychwood in his native Oxfordshire.
The Elephant House
The Elephant House is a house at 77 Yarmouth Road in the Christie Pitts neighbourhood of Toronto, Canada that has a life-size plaster mammoth sculpture in the front yard. Placed there since 2003, the sculpture is titled An Elephant in the Room and was made as a student project.
Davenport, Toronto
Davenport is a neighbourhood northwest of downtown in Toronto, Canada. It is located north of the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks and Dupont Avenue and south of Davenport Road and the ridge that is the former Lake Iroquois coastline. Its eastern boundary is Bathurst Street and it stretches west to Lansdowne Avenue. Davenport Road follows a centuries old carrying trail used by the First Nations peoples to travel the route south of the ridge.
Wychwood Barns
Wychwood Barns is a community centre and park in the Bracondale Hill area of Toronto. The converted heritage building was built as a streetcar maintenance facility in 1913. It now contains artist housing and studios, public green space, a greenhouse, a farmer's market, a beach volleyball court, and office space for many local community groups. The site is a total of 5,574 square metres (60,000 square feet).
