Vanier, Ontario
Ottawa's Vanier neighbourhood is a former municipality that ceased to exist in 2001 by becoming part of the city of Ottawa, Ontario. It no longer has a majority francophone population. In fact, in 2012 its francophone population has shrunk to less than 40% from 63% in the early 1980s. The Vanier neighbourhood is located in the east of Ottawa across the Rideau River from the neighbourhoods of Lowertown and Sandy Hill, and just south of Rockcliffe Park, New Edinburgh, Lindenlea, and Manor Park .

The Fleck/Paterson House is a historic building in Ottawa, Canada. Built in 1903 as a private residence, it has since served a number of functions, and is currently owned by the Algerian Embassy to Canada.
Embassy of Algeria, Ottawa
The Algerian Embassy in Canada is the embassy of Algeria in Ottawa, Canada. It is located in the Sandy Hill neighbourhood of Ottawa at 500 Wilbrod. It looks out on the Rideau River. The Algerians maintain a consular office at the Embassy's previous home at 435 Daly. Algeria also has a consulate in Montreal. The Algerian Embassy occupies the Fleck/Paterson House, built between 1901 and 1903. Previously owned by the Maharishi Heaven on Earth Development Corp.
Embassy of Turkey, Ottawa
The Embassy of the Turkey in Ottawa (Turkish: Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Ottava Büyükelçiliği) is Turkey's diplomatic mission to Canada. It is housed in a sprawling Tudor style manor located at 197 Wurtemburg Street overlooking the Rideau River. The building was built by Fisheries Commissioner William F. Whitcher in about 1869. In 1888 it was expanded and housed the Ottawa Children's Hospital, and remained a hospital until 1908. In 1953 it became home to the Turkish embassy.

For the poem "Linden Lea" see William Barnes Lindenlea is a neighbourhood in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, one of its smallest. It is bordered by Maple Lane to the north, Acacia Avenue to the east, Beechwood Avenue to the south and Springfield Road to the west. Its neighbouring communities are Rockcliffe Park (north and east), Vanier (south) and New Edinburgh (west). Lindenlea has a children's park, tennis courts, a bowling green and a community centre.

Desmond Smith (general)
James Desmond Blaise "Des" Smith, CBE, DSO, CD (2 October 1911 – 11 October 1991) was a Canadian general active in World War II in both the Italy and Netherlands campaigns. Smith was born in Ottawa, Ontario on 2 October 1911. He studied at the Royal Military College and graduated in 1933. On graduation he was promoted to lieutenant and attached to the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He served in the Canadian infantry, and was called overseas in 1940 as a staff captain with the 1st Canadian Division.
