Edward Drake Building
The Edward Drake Building represents one of the best examples of modernist architecture in Canada's National Capital Region. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, the building was designed by D.G. McKinstry and constructed between 1961 and 1964. It originally served as the headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, but significant CBC budget cutbacks in the 1990s led to the relocation of the head office staff (now housed in the CBC Ottawa Broadcast Centre) in 1997.
River Ward
River Ward is city ward located in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the central west/south central portion of the city, the ward includes the communities of Carlington, Skyline, Parkwood Hills, Fisher Heights, Mooney's Bay, Riverside Park and Hunt Club/Uplands which are located on both sides of the Rideau River between Carling Avenue and Hunt Club Road. It is bounded on the north by Brookfield Road, on the east by the Airport Parkway, on the south by the CN rail tracks and on the west by the Rideau River. The neighbourhood includes one of Ottawa's most well known beaches at Mooney's Bay and the Terry Fox Athletic Facility, along with both Vincent Massey Park, Hog's Back Park. Confederation Heights sits at the northern tip of the neighbourhood.
